Thanks again Ryne! I'll swing by my local body shop after work today. They quoted $180 to install a spoiler when I went there last time and the dealer wanted $240. Hopefully I'll have an update in a couple of days

No problem. In my opinion, you could be a lot worse off. You could have an eBay replica that probably doesnt fit, doesn't have hardware, or instructions. Hopefully the body shop will be able to make it work for you.

*update. I halted on the body shop since I somehow managed to acquire the template and instructions and every must have but that darn clip that holds the grommet. Technician at the dealer says he'll do it if I get both clips. I've looked at all the spoilers on eBay and it seems that they are already connected to the spoiler. I've ordered parts 0155306521 and 0155304631 in hopes that its the clip or similar but am not expecting good news. Anyone have experience with this part?

If this fails I'm just buying an OEM silver spoiler and taking it's parts.

You need more than the OEM chrome lip hardware (not really a spoiler) to mount. Yes, you do re-use some of the hardware from the OEM lip but there are two key larger clips for each side of the spoiler, out near the ends that are critical. If I remember correctly, all the clips were in a parts bag, not attached to the spoiler.

This is correct. You drill the large holes at the far ends, 3/4" if I recall correctly, and insert the female grommet into the hole. The male end is attached to the spoiler. The spoiler clips into place on the ends and then you proceed to attach the bolts from underneath.

Here are some pictures I have from when I did mine if this helps visualize the install.

I believe the instructions actually say 19mm holes but the tolerance is not that tight, you can use one of those stepped/tapered drills. You also need rust preventative to coat the raw edges of the freshly drilled holes. Double, Triple, Quadruble check you template placement before drilling, you get one shot at getting it right or else it's a ..... oh crap! :-)

You also get in the OEM kit the new, stronger struts plus new trunk lid bumpers.

In my experience, the new trunk lid bumpers are overkill and unnecessary. They dont serve any functional difference, it's just nice to have them included in the kit in case you somehow brake one during removal.

You do want to check a few times that the template is aligned and definitely coat the raw metal with primer or touch up paint. I used touch up paint.

19mm = 19mm/25.4mm/in = 0.748 in = 3/4"

If you don't want to spend a fortune buying a step drill bit, you will buy one from harbor freight. When you do that, you will realize why I call out the measurement as 3/4" opposed to 19mm.

... but, you should not just jump to a 3/4" drill bit, proper way is to gradually get there .. hence the step drill bit, they are not that expensive and a heck of a lot cheaper than a new trunk. Also, NAPA sells actual rust preventative paint, much better than just using touch-up paint. If you are going to do it, do it right.

Yes, I said 19mm didn't need to be exact ... just saying it's 19mm that the instructions call out.

Thanks guys! I'll get the rust preventive paint at NAPA when everything is finalized. Also the technician told me not to worry about the trunk lid bumpers. I'm not to worried about the drilling since there is now way that I'll touch my trunk ever. I can undo bolt on mods and electrical wiring but not accidentally drilling wrong holes. I found an OEM spoiler on eBay for $175 so I might just buy that and take it's hardware or do a trunk swap if I can find someone locally who already has a spoiler.

If you are having the technician do it, they will use their own rust preventative method and it should be covered under warranty if it's done by Infiniti/Nissan. The whole point of touch up paint is that it is to prevent rust on chips in the paint. No reason to buy another product if you already have touch up paint on hand.

2008G-Man - I said to use a step drill bit, particularly from Harbor Freight. If someone was planning to take a 3/4" drill bit to their car, I would seriously question if they are even fit to put gas in their car. Their step drill bits are not in metric, hence the need for the conversion to 3/4".

Ryne .... you are getting way to deffensive, relax dude, Merry Christmas

OP ... good luck with the install. IMHO the spoiler looks so much better than the chrome lip but I wish the OEM G37 spoiler looked closer to the G35 spoiler.

Yeah I wish the OEM spoiler looked like the 03-05 G35 spoiler. But I mean hey, you know whats better than the fugly chrome spoiler? The OEM G37 spoiler. Got it installed today and couldn't be happier! Special thanks to you and Ryne for all the advice! If I were to get another G without the spoiler, I'd get a new one because this was to much hassle but worth it in the end

What did they call the G35 spoiler?

Ironing board, Surf board? Something in those lines.

Steel Step Drill Set - 3 Piece, Titanium Nitride Step Drill Bits

Even with a small bit, I'll bet that first hole was a bit nerve-wracking to start...
