Difference between AT & MT floor mats?

Hi all- I'm looking at replacing my carpet floor mats. I have a buddy that has a new set and he's offered to sell them to me. The only problem is that his mats are for a MT and I have an AT. I've read that there is a difference in the mats. What is the difference in the two, and will the mats for a MT work in an AT?

Oh, and my buddy doesn't live near me (would be shipping them), so I can't test the fitment before buying.

I don't think there is a difference. I bought a set of All-weather mat from someone with mt coupe and they fit in my auto sedan.

if they're weathertech, i know they're made specifically for the AT but fits great in the MT.

No difference in OEM mats between coupe sedan convertible AT or MT. Each model has a different part number with Nissan parts websites, but the physical mats are no difference. When you get the mat you notice that the actual part number on the mat has the last two digits blanked out. These are the digits that indicate the model, so it is just a catalogue trick. I know because I have purchase several sets and the fit is universal.

I can't speak to aftermarket mats, no experience there.

I should have mentioned which mats I was looking at. I was referring to the Infiniti premium carpet floor mats. I ended up calling the Infiniti dealer and asked the parts guy. He told me he didn't think there was any difference. If anything the cut might be slightly different, but he felt it would not be enough to make any real difference, if any at all. I went ahead and bought them and my buddy shipped them the other day. It looks like I'll have them on Friday, so we'll see, but I'm pretty confident there is no difference.

Thanks for helping me feel comfortable with getting the mats! I actually got them today and they fit perfectly! In fact, in case anyone else has the same question, I can confirm with 100% certainty that they are exactly the same shape. I put all new mats on top of my old standard Infiniti mats and they match up perfectly. There are two things I did notice:

1. The shape is exactly the same but the new mats are slightly larger. Not by much at all, but they seemed to be maybe 1/4 inch longer and wider. As you can imagine, that little bit made absolutely no difference in the actual fit in the footwell.

2. The drivers mat had two holes for the carpet pegs/plugs, but I was already expecting that. The 2008 only has one carpet peg and it is exactly where it should be with the new mats. I think they added a second carpet peg in 2009, which is when they started making the premium carpet mats, so it makes sense that there's two holes in the mat.

The premium mats themselves are super nice. I'm so glad I finally got them!
