CONFUSION about my exhaust
CONFUSION about my exhaust
So guys I've been doing a lot of research and just browsing on this forum since I'm in the hospital, and I read that there's a Sport exhaust/muffler that you can get from the dealer? I have a 2012 g37S Coupe would my exhaust be the sport one they sell? Or would that be completely different? If so why didn't Infiniti make the S with the sport exhaust if it is the Sport version ? Also is it really a big difference in sound? I personally think the stock exhaust on the S is a little too quiet, I'd love it to be louder. I come from a s2000 that had a Hks hi power and that was perfectish. It was pretty loud but not obnoxious , and I'm skeptical about the hks for the g37 I feel like It would be too loud
so confusing lol

so confusing lol
The sport exhaust is an aftermarket add-on accessory, not on your S, there's some threads on it but short on time for linking one
They have nice looking tips and a deeper tone, and seems to get good reviews around here.

I have the sport accessory muffler very happy with it roars when you get on And quiet when cruising. it has no drone. another member Ryne on here has it also. he has a good video clip on the exhaust. Someone also said the best way to explain the sport muffler as it sounds like the stock muffler on steroids.
I like mine as well. Had it for about 2 months now. Only things I don't like it's more of an on/off sound. It's quiet at low rpm & cruising, but past 4K it's pretty loud. If you drive around in manual mode all the time like me, & manually downshift all the time like me the sound can get a bit loud on downshifts, but then it goes silent as the rpm's drop below 3K. I would have preferred a more neutral consistent sound through he rpm range.
The other thing is the tips...They are huge! They look funky with the stock bumper.

Wow that sucks, it should've came stock with the S... What's the point,, calling it "sport" exhaust that doesn't come with the sport version of the car lol.. Do any if you by any chance have videos? I have a 6mt so it should or might be something considering doing

that's exactly what it is the stock exhaust on steroids it's much louder when you get on it with the windows open.
the sport muffler sounds beastly with test pipes.
rumbles on idle and sounds pretty quiet while cruising then screams like a race car on open throttle.
I think the tips are just the right size it fills out the bumper nicely.

Looking at it...that is the IPL muffler right?
I am still looking to find out what the stock muffler sounds like with a larger diameter piping. I too have an S 6mt and I notice that it has a deeper tone than the 7AT in general. If I got larger piping I think it might sound damn near perfect at that point

I have the full GTHaus Meisterschaft exhaust on my car... I love it, it can be quiet when cruising, and it screams at wot. Plus it has 0 drone inside the car, just a nice growl when accelerating. I have a clip of before and after in my build thread. But it sounds deeper and meaner in person.
