Worth it to spend the extra $$$ for an IPL coupe?
I have been considering purchasing a G37 coupe ('11 or '12), and I plan on getting an automatic (...yeah, I know). I live in the southeast, and after spending some time browsing Auto Trader, dealerships' websites, etc., it seems like IPL coupes commonly cost just a few $k more than non-IPL coupes from same year. With that being said, do you guys think it's worth spending the extra money for an IPL coupe?
Or, since I'm getting an automatic anyways, would I be better off just getting a G37 coupe with the Sport package? Although, it seems like used G37 automatic coupes equipped w/ the Sport package are a rare breed...
The other option is to get a G37 sedan equipped with the Sport package, but I think I like the overall styling of the coupe better (although having the extra backseat room could be convenient at times).

That's going to be totally up to you. Me personally, I looked specifically for a sport coupe, and wouldn't have settled for anything else. Do whatever will make you happy. It's only worth what you'll pay for you. The only difference to consider imo, is the aero kit. Do you like the aero kit enough to pay the extra cash? A lot of people end up putting the kit on anyway, but I'm going a different route (aside from the side skirts) so it wasn't worth it for me.... I'd say if you want to mod it yourself and make it personal, find a sport coupe. If you want something with a semi modded look, but stock and want to leave it stock, go ipl. You'll love it either way I'm sure. They're great cars.
I've heard, and it seems logical, that Infiniti has a more formidable IPL model in the works. Might be wise not to go 'all in' right now.
Coupe vs sedan, personally I find the differences sort of minimal, go with what makes the most sense. But definitely go for it

Thanks for the input. Well, I really don't care about modding, although I do really like the "look" of the aero kit that comes standard on G37s with the Sport package.
Besides having the aero kit come standard with the Sport package, do you guys really notice much of a difference in day-to-day driving from the sport-tuned suspension? I'm just trying to figure out if spending extra money for essentially just the aero kit and sport suspension is worth it.
Yet another option is to buy an M37 base model and apply the aero kit, especially since the prices of used '11 M37s seem to have dropped over the last few months to be comparable to G37 prices.

Right, that's a great point -- and I think that must also be why the Infiniti dealerships I've seen selling them used ('11, '12 model years) are only charging a couple thousand more for them as compared to Journey/Sport G37 coupes. And still, it seems like they're having a really hard time selling them.

The IPL only offers a body kit & exhaust. I thought the suspension was the same as the sports? If not it can't be that much of a difference. If that's important to you then ....
I like the wheels on the S better.
But your right, finding a IPL coupe or a 6mt sport in the southeast is hard.

The IPL is a great car but for the price it's a bit much. If you can get a great deal on it and have no plans to mod it then it's a great buy IMHO.
I had every intention to mod my G so an IPL didn't make sense because I would have changed everything that makes it an IPL (Exhaust/Wheels/Suspension) Plus my Stillen SC would have removed that cool IPL engine cover lol. At the end of the day all I cared for was the aero kit.

On the IPL, I only cared for the red interior and aero kit.
I took care of the aero kit by adding the front bumper and side skirts to my sport model. I'm still deciding what to do with the rear bumper.
As for the red interior on the IPL, I'm still envious when I see it
As for exhaust, wheels, and suspension, I had no intentions of keeping any of that stock before I even bought the G.

I realize that a couple people have pointed out that even though a used IPL coupe is more than expensive that a regular sport coupe, it doesn't actually translate into having a higher trade-in value. I mentioned that because there are a couple guys I'm familiar with who, on a full-time basis, search the national auto auctions that are held each week to find & bid-on cars for people (for a commission, of course). Most of the cars these guys get end up selling at the auctions for a bit less than their NADA trade-in value.
So if the IPL coupe carries essentially the same trade-in value as the other G37 coupes, then it seems to make sense to say that I *should* be able to find one at an auction for basically the same price (I.e., the trade-in value) of the other G37s at the auction.
Has anyone else ever used any of these auction-searching services?

I have a IPL Convertible that i traded a pretty modded G35 coupe for. i really liked the red interior. i went to Gwinett infiniti and told them to look for me a coupe or convertible that had that. i knew it would be either the IPL or limited edition since those were only cars they put in. She showed me a 2014 IPL vert exactly like the one i later got. brand new for high $50K range. They found me a infiniti corp car. white and red IPL vert with only 12K miles. i paid all together $44 i think. Because of what i was looking for i love it. never had a vert. performance wise, you will get a lot of argueing about an S verses the IPL but it doe shave the look everyone is coping (minus the red) and from the factory more horse power and pretty much every option. if you were going to build a dream car like Diego id say dont get the IPL but otherwise id say it is worth it and because of all the options and limited production i would think hold value pretty well. I have done some things to it but i doubt i will go crazy before it is over. BTW, i have not seen a single white/red IPL vert in Atlanta except mine but i have seen a lot of S's.
