I have a 08 STI now and thinking of switching to a 11 or 12 G37xs coupe?

Well, I bought both cars essentially, I have an 02 wrx with an 04 sti 2.5l engine, fp green turbo, dual fuel pumps, full cobb exhaust with one metal substrate cat, tuned by godspeed motorsport... and I bought the girlfriend a 2010 g37x coupe, the subaru blows the doors off the g37 all day. you honestly would be happier looking at a GTR, it has the same feel as the subaru, with the refinement and tech from nissan, I was thinking of getting a GTR for myself, but my escalade is getting old, and I am looking at getting a new one before I get rid of my subaru
and yeah I felt the full potential of a GTR, here's a pic from when I took one on the track at exotics racing last year in vegas.

The price on a used GT-R may have come down, but the maintenance is a killer. The OP said that wasn't in the cards. As far as a highly modified WRX vs a G, the cost of the modded WRX is still less money, so it's a fair comparison for performance only. For the price of a single TT G, he and his girlfriend could both own modded WRX's. The G is a great looking luxurious coupe with a competent engine. However subies are competent aggressive cars, and are much easier to get gobs of horsepower for little money in mods. I really like my G, but to think there also aren't other good choices out there is ludicrous. Of course if looks and creature comforts mean anything to you, the two are not anywhere near the same playing field.
I hope your right in that the xS coupes now have the Okebono's. I think it was '11 when they introduced the xS coupe and it did not have them; the sport version of the AWD coupe was little more than an appearance package then.
Do your homework before you buy. Test drive and scare the crap out of some poor salesperson.

Yea but that like saying a went out and bought a Civic for 2k spent 10k on it and now its a 9 sec car, and its better than a G? You still talking apples to oranges. Sure you can buy a WRX mod the hell out and its faster than a G so? Its still a WRX , Crappy interior horrible ride and a rice look. Maybe just me being older but I had a 475 WHP EVO 8( 04) and wouldn't compare that to my G. Again just me tho.
And if cost and speed is the only thing the OP's worried about then get a civic and make it a 9 sec car :/ you'll be under 10k

I'm not saying Subarus are better. I have a G now too. However Subarus are way more fun and competent than a Civiic. The original poster is deciding between the two. He has stated his preference to mod, and his only reason for deciding to change is that his knee is bothering him from the stiff clutch in his STI, and he likes the look of the G, but hasn't indicated that he cares at all about luxury.
His initial post was about comparing the two, and of coarse on a dedicated G site he is getting a one-sided argument for. Had he posted the same question on a Subie site, he would likely get a one-sided argument against. Arkangyl and I seem to be the only ones that have had both, and are probably in the best position to give him real world experience on both.
Both of us now also drive G's as well as the rest of the posters, so we have made our decision to drive a G. I want to give solid advise, and really don't care what the OP decides, however I do want him to make the best choice for HIM. So it's not that I'm hating on the G; it's just that I'm trying to give him the information he is looking for. I hope that he gets the right car for HIS needs, wether that's a G, a Subie, or anything else for that matter. Just because you think the G is better for you isn't a good reason for the OP to buy a G.
Both the STI and Gx have great AWD systems, and I wouldn't be surprised if the poster was a ski bum like I am, as they are both great ski commuter vehicles. It's far less painless to throw a board or pair of skis or two in the back of a subie, than to beat up the interior of a G coupe.
The G is going to be more expensive to buy, maintain and mod than the Subie. The Subie will have many more options to mod, and those mods will return real horsepower gains, unlike the bolt-ons on a G. The G is far more luxurious, better looking, and has more bells and whistles. Both are solid choices, and hopefully the OP is happy with the informed decision he is about to make.

I picked up a 2012 G37xs Coupe Lapis Blue 25k miles with Premium Package and Nav CPO'd for 29.1k on Saturday. I'm missing the STI I think only because I owned it for 5 years. I think this car will grow on me in time though. I only had it for 3 days now so didn't really have time to really get into it. I'm loving the Bose stereo the Subaru sound system was so weak if you put the windows down don't even bother with the radio at highway speeds you could barely hear it.

Congrats. The stereo is definitely one thing I like over the Subie, both quality and the hard drive on the nav package. There seems to be some issues with some people's stereo here. I'm glad you got a good one.
I'm curious, does your xs have the big Okebono brakes up front? If I remember correctly, 2011 was the first year for the xs and it didn't have the better brakes.

You'll like them then. The small brakes in mine for a heavy powerful car in the mountains don't suffice. My rotors are warped, and I'll likely put the large ones on vs the short term fix of new or turned rotors and new pads. The paddle shifters help immensely and if I didn't downshift to use engine braking, the brakes would already be shot.
If you don't have the paddles, they can be added cheap, and they are the best upgrade by far that I have done. Most others on this site agree. It takes less than 15 minutes, and I got mine used on this site for less than $200 if I recall correctly.
I hope we gave you some good advice and hope you stay happy with your purchase.
