Anyone in here went from an STI to a Coupe XS and if so did they like the change? My knee's are starting to bother me and looking for a comparable car that's automatic. For any who made the switch what mods do you guys recommend to get it to perform close to my STI. I have the following mods on my STI now.
Cobb Accessport with dyno tuned stage 2 map from JR at The Shop in CT supporting the following mods.
Magnaflow Catback exhaust.
Perrin Cold Air Intake
Perrin Down Pipe with HFC
Cobb Tuning Lightened Crank Pully.
Dyno tune with these mods yielded 317.9 whp.
My lowest time at Englishtown is a 12.75 @ 109.1mph
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

I don't have an STi but I can tell you that they are completely different cars. I suggest you test drive one before you make any decisions. The G37 is more luxury vs the STi being more performance oriented. I have friends that call my car mushy while theirs are obnoxious. It's up to you
Hmm you guys are making me have second thoughts now. I figured since stock for stock 0-60 times being .5 seconds off and 1/4 mile times being .3 seconds off it wouldn't be too much different. I'm happy with just getting low 13's with it you can only accelerate so much on the road anyway. Of all the awd cars out there with a auto the G37xs coupe makes most sense to goto to me and I love the looks of the car. I'm probably only seeing low 13's when I daily drive anyway because I usually run in I or S mode unless AC is on.

The STI is generally more fun to drive but it definitely is on the same level power wise (AWD gets out of the whole quicker hence the slightly faster 60 time, but you also know how tough it is to launch those cars correctly.....). The G can hit 13.5 in the quarter but it takes some real money to break into the 12's. I would suggest driving one first and see how you like it. I personally would never buy a car with an automatic and since you are coming from a manual it's going to be tough to gauge how fast it feels throughout the power band. In the end it comes down to preference so go jump in one of them and see if the G fits the bill. Good luck.

I went from an 2010 EVO MR with the dual clutch a/t to a g37 a/t vert. It is a totally different experience. I miss the evo's nimbleness...but love my convertible, its why we switched over. Its fast, not as fast, but the convertible and luxury is worth it for me. Sadly the g37 a/t is not even as close to the quick and responsiveness of that dual clutch auto...you just have to decide if the sacrifice is worth what youre looking for, otherwise I would recommend an 2014 Evo MR if you want all the perks of an STI with a a/t.

FWIW I made 322rwhp/275rwtq on a 6MT with a Motordyne Exhaust, Motordyne ART pipes, and Stillen Gen 3 Cold Air Intake and a tune.
I doubt I would get into the 12's but it's still decent. If I wasn't a college student I might have got the 335i, I've driven some of my clients and those things are bonkers, close to 400whp w/ barely any money into them. The turbos definitely make the car a lot more fun, the torque is a big difference. For now, I'm keeping the G until I get a GT-R in the next year or so.

I regret getting the G37 coupe over the STI when I was car shopping. We're having our first child, so I need to add baby seats eventually, which is tough with the coupe. Also, the coupe's trunk space is stupid small, so if you care to carry anything decent in your trunk, good luck.
You can also get a a 4.08(6MT) or a 3.69(7AT) gear swap to get low 13 1/4 mile times on the G37.
I heard it throws off cruise control, but this can be remedied by a aftermarket software tune. Your max speed is also affected with the mod.

Well, I bought both cars essentially, I have an 02 wrx with an 04 sti 2.5l engine, fp green turbo, dual fuel pumps, full cobb exhaust with one metal substrate cat, tuned by godspeed motorsport... and I bought the girlfriend a 2010 g37x coupe, the subaru blows the doors off the g37 all day. you honestly would be happier looking at a GTR, it has the same feel as the subaru, with the refinement and tech from nissan, I was thinking of getting a GTR for myself, but my escalade is getting old, and I am looking at getting a new one before I get rid of my subaru
and yeah I felt the full potential of a GTR, here's a pic from when I took one on the track at exotics racing last year in vegas.
I wish I could get a GTR but can't afford that unless I win the lottery. About a month ago on interstate a g37x was on my @&$ & I couldn't gain on him at all in sport sharp in 5th gear that's why I figured in real world situations I wouldn't notice any difference. I plan on getting a Stillen gen 3 intake, Stillen HFC's, crank pulley & hypertech right off the bat. So figured with those should be similar in real world situations.
