Bad news :(

So i bought new pads and rotors and got my mechanic to install them while he was at i told him to check out a oil leak i assumed it was the pan, but unfortunately it turned out to be a crack in the engine block. Its a hairline crack turns out my g's a rebuild that's news to me damn used dealerships... anyway long story short he tells me to ditch the car and buy a new g since its only at 100k clicks. Any advice on how to proceed?

Thanks!

Edit: just an fyi its a 2008 g37s

That's rough news
Might check for a salvage motor first and crunch the numbers to see if it's worth it.

Did the used car dealer tell you it was a rebuild? You can sue if they did not disclose.

Hey I'm in Vancouver bc and I'll look at the original papers see if they wrote rebuilt anywhere. Worst part about all of this I was 4 months away from owning this car.

A klick is a kilometer so does it have only 62,000 miles? Or 100 kilometer kilometers? If it's only 62,000 miles that's crazy. Although I guess the motor could have double that so it could happen. If its a hair line crack could you weld it? Is the motor strong? If it is I'd weld it or durafix it.

Hey guys, So my mechanic got back to me about welding he says its an option and has a welder in mind he also says if it goes south you could fry a lot of the electrical components because the crack is around the driver side wheel well area. Knowing this i think i may go through with it anyway.

I appreciate all the help so far love this forum.

Hey so an update i talked to Jurie at Monkeynutz racing and what a guy he's awesome, taking my G there next week. So he tells me instead of gasket they used silicon as a seal in the crack area leading me to believe it isn't a rebuild if it comes like that from factory. He's saying to do a chain job while its open and he's welding what do you guys think chains usually last the life of the engine do they not?. The job in total is around $1500-$2000.

I believe the timing chain is maintenance free and last until the car is done.
