Own a 2008 G37 Journey with the 5AT Sport and Premium packages.

I'm coming up on 78k miles. What kind of life can I expect from the car? What should I be looking closely at for repairs?

I realize this could vary depending on maintenance but just as a general overview.

 

IMO I think it has a lot of other factors involved. Depends on your driving style, how diligent you are with maintenance and care, how much driving you do and in what conditions. I think any car can last well over 200k if taken care of properly. From what I have been reading these are no different. Good luck

 

Preventive maintenance is your best friend

 

The main thing to do is keep up with maintenance especially the pcv. Change it at least every 30k you should be fine and there are two of them on our cars. I did that on my G35 and at 160k no oil leaks or problems and sold the car for 9k. It sold with in two days.

 

Have a write up in the PCV? Any other suggested maintenance?

 

^I checked the IPC and they only mention one P/N 18110 valve P/N 18112 for the insulator/ O'ring.

 

I traded in my 06 G35 6sp at 171796 miles

At that time the vehicle needed its second set of replacement brakes after the first set of OEM brakes that were changed at 85k miles. It needed a few other items and I decided not to spend the money on a vehicle that I was going to drive from NJ to Florida in the near future.
You can easily get 200k miles if you do regular oil changes and routine maintenance but as parts wear out it can get expensive.
A drivers side headlight ballast was $600.00 just for the part that I needed.
I don't let anyone but the dealer touch my vehicle but if you do the repairs yourself it is cheaper.

Depends how much money you want to keep pouring into a vehicle as it ages. As well as time and aggravation.

New vehicles come with all new parts and a warranty

Sorry for the newbie question but what is a PCV?

 

Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve. There are two, upfront on top of the engine. Easy to replace, just pull the two intake hoses, undo the clamp on the pcv with a pair of needle nose pliers. Use a socket or wrench to pull them out and reinstall the new ones.

 

Any vehicle made after 1990 should last 250k miles if minimal maintance is followed. IE: fluids regularly changed.
