6MT is definitely more fun and engaging, but the 7AT is a beast IMO and can stand its own when it comes to having fun.

I think the way they are geared, the 7AT should also have better 0-60 times, and maybe 1/4 mile than the 6MT. Please correct me if I am wrong to assume this:

- 7AT, 6MT respectively

1st gear = 4.92, 3.79
2nd gear = 3.19, 2.32
3rd gear = 2.04, 1.62
4th gear = 1.41, 1.27
5th gear = 1.00, 1.00
6th gear - 0.86, 0.79
7th gear - 0.77

- 7AT, 6MT
Final drive ratio: 3.36, 3.69

If you also multiply the final drive to the gear ratios, you can see how Nissan wanted to drastically reduce 0-60 times of the 7AT automatic, compared to the 08 coupe's 5AT. Maybe to do better against the 335?

The reason why the 08 5AT G37 coupe is slow to 60 and 1/4 is the gearing:

1st gear 3.84, 2nd 2.35, 3rd 1.52, 4th 1.00, 5th 0.84 with a final drive ratio 3.36. (It has been confirmed by another member on this site that the 5AT ring has 47 teeth, Pinion 14 teeth which is 3.36:1, not 3.69:1 as many others first thought)
