I never understood the rationality of the carpet thing. If they get dirty clean them, but think about this. Your trying to preserve your carpet for the next owner to enjoy?? I mean I just don't get it. If you don't have a truck, carpet is the way to go.

rubber mats OR carpet mats is the topic of discussion, not both at the same time. toyota prius owners do not apply here...
I'm just joking around. I just find it humorous that marketing can compel us to buy several items that serve the same purpose, which is to protect the car's built-in carpet.

We should expect that any floor mat we use to serve this purpose will get dirty in it's honorable effort to fulfill it's duties. I find the carpet floor mats easier to maintain, even in the winter (salt included). When it's below zero in the middle of winter, I find it much easier to run the mats through the $1.00 mat cleaner machine (states on the machine to NOT use on rubber mats) at the local car wash than I do hosing down rubber mats (like that's going to happen...).

When the mats become too worn in a few years I will use the money saved from not buying rubber mats to buy a fresh set of carpet mats. I get the luxury of carpet in all seasons with a backup fund to replace them at my discretion.

Not preserving for the 'next guy' so much as keeping it good for its own sake. Much easier to replace mats than the entire fitted carpet. Nothing makes a car look rattier than wrecked carpets or upholstery. (That said, seat covers = never...)

Damn, guess I'm the only one that rocks OEM all-weather mats all year round. I like the easy maintenance of rubber mats since I spend way too much time on my black paint to keep it looking pristine.

I bought the all weather mats when I first bought my G, since I bought it used and only the rear mats came with the car. At first I liked them, then, couldn't stand them. They look grey all the time (I have a black interior) and show dirt so much.

I went and bought the Infiniti Premium floor mats and couldn't be happier

Go carpet

Nope, my wife who drives the coupe told me this spring she wanted to keep the OEM rubber ones in. I drive the M so I swap those out for the premium carpet in the Spring.

Damn, now you got me debating if I should switch. I also have the black interior and the mats do look grey and show dirt easily.

Since I live in Socal, where it never rains, maybe I should get the premium carpet based off looks alone ...plus the G is not my DD either

Rubber is for pick-up trucks; old ones.

origommi you don't say what color your interior is, but if it's light colored you can use black floor mats which will add some contrast but not show stains.

I did this in a MB with the palomino interior and they set off the black dash perfectly.
