Mods vs Warranty

So I have an extended warranty, lasts like a 100,000 miles. I wanna mod but don't want to- void the warranty are the dealerships that sstrict crazy about blaming problems on the mods?

Just don't do anything crazy. Catback, some wheels and a moderate drop. Don't rebuild your engine and boost it and expect any warranty.

Intakes are a good first mod if you havent done anything to your car yet

They're also an excellent excuse for the dealer to reject any engine claims shall anything happen to the engine. I wouldn't touch them to be honest.

Infinity has a program with Stillen where the dealers are installing all Stillen products under warranty. Some of the products are gen 3 intakes, cat back, pulleys, lowering springs, sway bars. Call a dealer and enquire.

My dealership "Lauderdale Infiniti" responded to me when I asked about modding that they warranty the car under the guidlines of my warranty program: factory and extended. They will not warranty aftermarket parts or workmanship on the aftermarket parts though. I believe that there is a federal law that protects the consumer somewhat on this topic. I wouldn't expect warranty to cover a FI, though. Some dealerships market, sell, and install aftermarket components such as CAI. Do a bit of research and ask your dealerships service writers about this. They can be helpful at times.

Unless you have a mod friendly dealer....or have them install them for you. My dealership has said they wouldn't void my warranty if I added intakes. They also have an aftermarket parts guy at the dealer and offered to order and install the intakes. Of course they'd have to be Stillen though. Ultimately, its not worth it if you ever plan to add boost as you will get intakes with whatever kit you go with.

Intakes and exhaust will not void the warranty.

Thanks for all the input. I talked to one of the dealerships that I work with and they mentioned something about Stillen. Maybe I'll go that route from now on. The only thing that I've done so far is add a sport front bumper and Hotchkiss sway bars. I'd like to go forced induction but that will come down the road sometime.

Speaking from the position of a 100% stock owner, I don’t worry about such things. Certainly there are dealers who will void your warranty for many mods, and there are those who will be more lenient. In the final analysis, you’re rolling some dice for any mod you decide to install. Even when considering the cost to the manufacturer, it all comes down to the litigious society we now live in, and the liability Nissan may be exposed to regarding certain mods.

Not sure about the states but in canada theres a law that prevents dealers from voiding your warranty when you add aftermarket parts, unless they can somehow prove that the aftermarket part was the cause of any failure that occurs.

My previous cars engine blew up at 93,000km and I had intake, exhaust, header installed. The dealer didn't even attempt to blame my mods and replaced my engine under warranty. I agree that it probably would've been a whole different story if I had a turbo kit installed.

FI won't void your warranty either. I have the stillen supercharger on my car. I had a problem and the dealers were going to fix it for free BUT, Since the SC was in the way of the warranty work they were going to charge me labor. If the mechanic don't know what to do, i won't want him messing around trying to figure it out. I just did the work myself.
