Holy run on.

Translation:
There's a touch sensitive switch in my center console, which emits a red light when on. I have no clue what it does and was hoping someone could chime to help.

You will probably need to provide more details to get an answer. It would help to know what you mean by "touch sensitive". What does it do when you touch it? I do give you credit for adding a picture, a video may be even more helpful for this situation.

Basically it's like the touch sensitive switch on a ps3 or like a Galaxy S return/home button. im not quite sure what it does. I have 3 of them in the car, one as shown in pic another next to the traction control and one next to the hood release

The previous owner probably had something installed and took it out prior to trading in the car. It was likely more of a hassle to take out those parts and fill in the resulting holes, therefore they were left in place.

Since that is not a switch that is factory equipment, nobody here could possibly have any clue what that's for unless they're clairvoyant or it happens to be their car that they previously owned and installed that switch and know what it is. Good luck with that.

Idea: Pull the center console off and find out where the wires go.

It is aftermarket for sure. The spot is usually set for a SNOW button, but obviously that is not it.

Could be a lot of things, the only way would be to take that console off and see where it goes.

It releases the "sharks with laser beams attached to their heads. After all, every creature deserve a warm meal". I second the idea of taking the center consule out and tracing down what the wires run to.

That was what I was thinking first off. I'm about to get my car tuned and it would be cool to have a switch near the gear shifter to switch between maps instead of using a combination of cruise control switches and buttons.
