How to take apart center console/center compartment?

My USB port in my center compartment isn't reading anything and I think the service people might have missed a wire or something when changing my CSC. Is there a DIY on how to take everything apart so I can get a good look at it?

Why don't you take it back to the dealer and let them handle it? since they missed it they should fix it

Point is I wouldn't try to do something myself and possibly mess something up...Let the experts handle it

It was a Ford dealer that did the repair. I know I should've had warranty work done at Infiniti but the Ford place was literally like 3 minutes from my house. When I got my car back from them, there was a bunch of stuff that I had to reset (windows, had to readjust windshield wipers, etc) and I'm thinking the CSC repair wasn't the best job either. Horrible customer service and I'm scared of bringing my car back there for even a small thing like this.

Yup worst decision I've ever made. Never taking shortcuts again when dealing with my baby.

I need the center compartment where the USB port is, not the NAV screen. Thanks though.

Just in case the above link gets removed due to the "bypass hack" here are a few more links that might help.

Here's the DIY for removing the trim behind the radio and around the shifter if that's what you're needing~

I've taken the center console out of my buddie's Altima to lay some soundproofing. I imagine they're not TOO different. I'll outline the basic steps:

1. Remove negative terminal from battery
2. Unbolt seats from floor, in the altima, they were 16mm bolts in front, and large type star bolt in the back.
3. Remove seats, don't forget to unplug them first
4. In the passenger and driver footwells, there is a piece of trim on either side of the console. Use trim removal tools to pry them out, there weren't screws in the Altima.
5. There was a phillips head screw on either side of the console in the passenger and driver footwell. They held the center console to the rest of the dash.
6. I'm assuming you have an automatic. Pull down firmly on the boot trim where it meets the stick in a silver ring. This exposes the wire clip holding the shift **** on to the stick.
7. Pull the stick off, and remove the trim.
8. In the altima, there were very, very small phillips screws on either side of the console, about in line with where the seatbacks were. Remove these.
9. There are two small buttons covering additional screws farther rearward from the screws in step 8. Use a flat head screwdriver to pop the buttons off and unscrew these.

At this point, the differences become too big. Tentatively, there was one or two more screws behind the cigarette lighter area that also held the console to the forward dash.

Once those had been removed, we just unplugged the appropriate wire harnesses (AUX, or USB, and the shifter wires). The console slid back and up to be removed to expose the wiring and the floor of the car.

I hope that helps, I'm sorry I don't have more G37-specific details, but we didn't have Altima instructions and we kind of muddled our way through removal. Tools I'd recommend to have on hand:

Screwdriver set, large and small phillips and flat
Socket set, metric
Star drive sockets
Trim removal tools
Needle Nosed pliers (for unclipping harnesses)

good luck, buddy!

Obtain the factory service manual (FSM)
Open "IP.pdf"
Navigate to page 24
Follow the instructions under "Removal and Installation"

I followed this when adjusting my 6mt shift plate on my coupe. Did everything without removing the shift **** (YAY! its a PITA to get off w/o damaging). Your USB connector should fairly obvious (my iPod connector sure was).

Total time to take apart and button it back together for me was ~2.5 hours.

Another useful resource in adjusting the shfit guide plate was a short shifter install DIY from the370z.com, it had some pictures with what to expect it too look like once the plastic was off.
