Anyone cross shop the g37x with the evo?
You know, I once read a forum thread where some guy put his Lexus something-or-the-other on an extreme weight loss diet. I do not remember what the total weight loss was, but he kept a tally and it was a really impressive number that made his car into the ultimate sleeper. Maybe if you could find the thread you could get some ideas for what to remove or replace on the G37.
Some of the things that the guy removed were pretty extreme, like the air conditioning system, but I guess he thought it was worth it. He removed much of the things that made the Lexus a luxury car, and you could do something similar if you wanted.

I was set on an Evo X prior to picking up my G37 and sometimes I wonder... what if I bought the Evo instead? But all in all I'm glad I have the G37. Infinite more luxuries and much more solid overall build quality.
Performance Performance Performance = Evo
Luxury Performance Sport = G37

I think of the G37 as a performance touring car (GT)...
I wanted one so bad since I was in high school (Evo VIII at the time) but the interior and overall build quality made me feel like I was driving a Civic/Corolla/Focus. Once I sat in the G37, the Evo was out of the picture.
The evo is a kid's car.
Nothing wrong with being a kid (or driving a kid's car) but it doesn't have much (anything?) in common with the G37.
I can just imagine pulling up to the Ritz Carlton with that wing; they'd think I was a new employee who didn't know where to park...

No stupid wing here, I'm low key lol.
That's why they make the mr.
Running high 12s with bald tires.
With a built motor, sorry no g is going to hang.
Unless you got gtm twins, even then.
My boy has a viii he runs high 10s on e85, evos are only rivaled by the mighty gtr.
It doesn't have the high hello pull me over.
I'm no kid, yet every time I take one of my friends & they get that blank eating grin every time. feel why I have an evo.
Plus no g37x is pulling a .99 on a skid pad, it's to soft.
A 4 grand turbo kit will destroy 90% of any of the cars on here.
Just a stock block with a forced performance black pushing 35psi.
Btw, I see mostly 25-35 year olds in the g, so who is the kids car?
Agreed, they are two completely different animals. The Evo looks like a four door econobox with some amped up aesthetics. And despite its practicality, it's built for all out raw performance/tracking ability.

It's all business, corners get cut.
Since the car comes stock with
Eibach spring
Bilstein shocks
2pc lightweight rotors
Brembro brakes
Recaro racing seats
Rockford Fosgate 710 watt sound system w/subwoofer( blows the Bose away)
Plus a 2.0 twin scroll turbo making 20 Psi stock mated to one of the most advanced awd with active yaw control 3 diffs.
Of course twin clutch getrag 6 speed sst-TC.
Panasonic mini battery.
Real paddle shifters that actually shift when you hit them zero delay.
I just did the exact comparison. I owned a 2008 evo x. I loved it but i owned it all through college. I just traded it in (2 weeks ago) with 90k on it and I'm happy with my choice of the G. I'm 27 now and I could honestly care less about how much boost I could get in the evo vs the G. It's all personal preference bro. I think the G is a sexier, classier, more "grown up" car BUT i still wanted something sporty, so I got the g37x coupe vs the sedan. But normally I would not at all put them in the same category.
i went from a evo x to a g37s
2 different cars as every one stated and you cant compare the 2 at all
as for the evo its a beast !! it will out handle out brake and out preform a g37 in every way !!
if you want a luxury evo go for a mr model
now as for the g37 it has better looks and interior features. also its easier for my wife to drive.
my last evo x put down 430 hp and 380 ft torque with about $1,700.00 in mods, exhaust, intake and reflash and that was it !
i also ran 12.40s consistantly off pump gas and fully loaded, drove the car hard for 2 years with not a single issue.
if your going for looks comfort and luxury go with the g37s you want performance go evo.

I see Gs driven by all ages.
The difference is the 25 - 35 year olds have older cars they bought used and modded out; the older folks (like me) buy them new and drive them as they are (and then sell them to some kid who will mod them out!
You rarely see an older person driving an evo, though, unless they've swiped it from their kid to go have some fun (like you!
).
I played with the idea of an Evo or an STI/WRX for a month or so prior to buying my G, defying the fact that I simply didn't fit the demographic for either. The final straw came when I was on the highway next to one and told my 9 year old son that I liked the Evo. He said "Dad, are you serious, I thought only teenagers drove those cars".
I guess I missed the window for owning one of these :-)

).All cars are a compromise, in one way or another.
Luxury was dull & to many around, I liked it when the 1st week it came out I grabbed one.
It broke necks for about 6 months, til they started popping up everywhere.
One thing about evos the word "common" is never the problem.
Also evo frame is a very solid, someone clipped a guardrail at 120.
He didn't even have a scratch, so I'll vouch for the crash test part.
