Done with Infiniti/Nissan
Well once my G is done I will be switching to another manufacturer.
I purchased a new vehicle which had been on the lot for about a 8 months time. I was assured that all the little nicks and marks would be removed from the paint before delivery. When I arrived, unfortunately nothing was done to alleviate the paint concerns. To set my mind at ease the salesman gave me a form with an outline of a car (similar to what you get when you rent a vehicle) and was told to mark on the paper all the issues with the paint. I was then told they would book me in to fix the issues.
Well, after the first time the car went in to get fixed, the marks were mostly removed however it was returned to me with major swirls in the clear coat. You can tell they simple tried to buff most of it out and ended up doing more damage. After complaining to the service manager I was again booked in for another appointment to fix the paint and get an oil change. When I arrived the second time it was like nothing had been done to the car. I was told the oil change was completed and they had fixed the paint. When I went out to the car I noticed that it was still dirty. After speaking to the service manager he informed me that he was mistaken and the shop didn’t have time to look at my car and said they would correct the paint in the fall when I brought in my vehicle to have the winter tires installed. So I left, only to have to return the next day because the service department never reset the maintenance indicator.
Fast forward to the fall. I drop the car off to have the paint fixed and my winter tires installed. The tires were installed and the paint was “fixed”. Unfortunately the car was still wet and at the time I could not verify the paint. By the time I returned to the office the car was dry and 80% of the swirls are still in the paint. Add insult to injury I had to return to the shop again because one of the new winter tires was balanced improperly and the car was bouncing once speeds were over 80km an hour.
I sent Infiniti Corporate an e-mail outlining everything and asked them to pick up the tab to have a professional buff job (about $300). After their investigation they determined they would not pay to have it buffed properlly but that I could waste more of my time and bring the car back to the dealership to give them a fourth +++ chance to fix something that should have been done a year ago.
Using simply math, the car was $65,000 (in Canada after tax) and I flip cars about every 4-5 years. At 38 years old, they just lost about $606,000 post tax and interest on loans, assuming of course I live for another 35 years. Thats not taking into account any future Infiniti's my wife would buy

Swearing off a manufacturer because of this? This is strictly a dealer issue that you can run into with any manufacturer.
Good luck being this dramatic with your next make. Sorry you had a bad experience though.
edit: also, never let the dealer touch your paint. Any dealer generally gives their regular joe schmoes an orbital and calls them their master detailer. This is probably why they simply agreed to fix it when you bought the car--they figured a few hours of minimum wage and they'd have it "fixed." It would have been better to have a quote done on a repair from an actual detailer and have that deducted from the price.
Regardless of the make of the car, never let the dealer touch your paint!

so you are leaving Infiniti because of a negative experience with an incompetent dealer?
Makes a lot of sense. And who trusts a dealer for paint correction??? That is why real car guys tell the dealer DO NOT wash the car after service (or not take to dealer for service in the first place).
And if your paint was messed up when you first bought the car, sounds like you are the only one that can be held accountability for your discontent. Should have gone to a professional detailer day 1.

If the manufacturer wont stand behind their product why the hell should I?
Infiniti has told me that I am on my own with the dealership.
Yes I agree that it is a dealer issue as well as the manufacturer, however when you dont have another Infiniti dealership inside of 100 miles you tell me what I am supposed to do.
I have a car that I paid $65,000 for and its covered in swirls that Infiniti clearly could care less about.
I dont feel I am being mellow dramatic at all.

The car was brand new...on delivery the little marks were to be removed. In removing them they also damaged all the paint. They have had several attempts to fix the problem and they keep making it worse. So now I am at fault??
Let me ask you, if you bought a new car and found it had paint difficiences you would pay to have it fixed yourself?
Get real its a new fu#king car I bought. Why the hell would I pay a third party to have it delivered to me new?
Like I said, Infiniti Corporate wont make it right, the only dealership within a 100 miles is to incompent to make it right.
So now what? I have to pay out of my pocket to get my car looking the way is should have from day 1.
I guess I am dramatic if I refuse to be screwed like that.

Have a professional detail your car. Never the dealership. I highly doubt they will ever get the paint to where you want it because they probably don't even know how to detail a car like a pro. Save yourself time and aggravation and have a professional do it. Problem solved.

I Compeltely understand where you're coming from. I've been an Infiniti guy since the 2000 I30. I really never had any kind of problem like this. I've had very good experiences but honestly if I went through what you went through I would feel the same way.
I never let the dealer touch my paint that's for sure. You should've never signed those papers until that car was exactly how you want it also. Consider this am unfortunate lesson learned. Good luck with the whole mess.

If the paint imperfections bother you this much you never should have bought that particular car in the first place. You could have had them bring in an identical car and purchased that one instead. The broken promises by the dealer is annoying and you have a right to be ticked, however it has nothing to do with the manufacturer. Infiniti can't control how the dealer treated your car for the 8 months it was on the lot.
Instead of being ticked for the next 4 years of ownership of this car (assuming you keep it for 5 as you stated), take it in to a pro-detailer, get it fixed to your liking, then start enjoying your car. You spent $65k on the car, another $300 isn't worth the distress you're putting yourself through.
Rather than put judgement on the brand, call out the dealer (you can post their name and your poor experience here or on review sites) and refuse to do business with them in the future.

Unfortunately this type of things happen at any manufacturer.
I would do like others say - Have a professional detail it and enjoy your car. Don't let this bad dealer experience ruin the enjoying of driving your car.....plus, I would imagine the car a due for a nice wax job.
and dont let the dealer wash your car
