Never know when to trust the dealership
Not all dealers are the same. At mine, for instance, you do not need an appointment for oil changes; I’m out of there in about 45 minutes; in the lounge I enjoy free coffee, bagels, donuts, fruit or cookies, Wi-Fi, 60” HD TV, and, of course, they wash my car; all for $40.
^ lol. a dealer car wash is punishment, not a bonus. but to each his own i suppose. many guys explicitily state that NO WASH shall be written on the work order if they do go to the dealer.
Depends on what you use. I have a UOA posted on the forums using Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 if you search for it. They said I can push 7,500 miles no problem, so that's what my OCI's are right now. I do notice that no matter where I go to get my oil change done, they always write down my "next service" mileage at anywhere between 5000-6000 miles. I just use the dashboard computer to keep track anyway.
I go every 3 months because I won service contracts on my G and EX last year through the infiniti at your service sweepstakes. Also, I pretty much drive right by there every day anyway so it's convenient.
I learned this from having a turbo cars, that i only run synthetic.
Synthetic is more heat resistant, but even by 2k miles the viscosity starts to break down. Also if you drive hard, or like an old fart makes a big diff.
It may look clean, but it isn't.
Plus keep in mind, if your running synthetic & only change every 7500.
If you have any motor issues, they will look for an excuse to not warranty.
When I had my g, it had oil consumption issue.
If I waited 7500 miles the motor would have been bye bye.
5,000 miles is past the recommended 3,750 mile (Schedule 1) maintenance interval for oil changes. However, you said 5,000 kilometers, which is a little more than 3,100 miles, which is more frequently than you should be getting oil changes (or even regular check-ups).
