swell infiniti ipl bumper not the same color !!
hey guys i just installed my aero/ipl bumper that i ordered from swell infintit today and noticed it is not the same color as the rest of the car. (moonlight white) its a bit off and not as pearly and definitely noticeable. im so mad dont even know what to do !

Here are your options. First, you could return the bumper and say that the color did not match. You should first verify that they will accept it, and that they will pay shipping charges.
Second, you could get it re-painted at a reputable body shop. However, without blending, there may still be a noticeable difference in color between the bumper and the rest of the car.
Finally (this is the route I took), you could get in contact with Sewell Infiniti and tell them the issue. They will not fix it themselves, but they will provide you with proof of purchase in the form of a dealer invoice. Tell them to contact your nearest Infiniti dealer to inform them that you are going in to get a re-paint of the bumper done under warranty.
The dealership may attempt to avoid working on the bumper, stating that it is the dealer who sold the bumper that should deal with it. This is what happened to me. Someone at Sewell Infiniti will try to convince them otherwise (it worked for my nearest dealership). Then you will have to go in to your local dealership and have the issue looked at. Do not let them try to convince you that what they are seeing is normal. They will likely tell you that painting plastic bumpers is not the same as painting metal, which is why the difference is there. Several body shops have told me that same thing. Now, if you look closely, you will see the same difference between the plastic rear bumper and adjacent panels, and between any other area where painted plastic meets metal. However, the difference from the factory is smaller than the difference between your aero bumper and factory-painted panels.
They will do an estimate of how much it would cost to re-paint the bumper, and you will get it re-painted for free at their dealership (you do not have a choice here, just hope that their body shop is good). Note that the color still may not match, but it will be better than before. Make sure to tell them that there is not enough pearl in the bumper, which is actually what caused the difference according to the dealer's body shop that I went to.
You can also request them to actually blend in the front bumper with the adjacent body panels. It will be more expensive for the dealership, and they may not do it if Infiniti does not agree to pay them for blending (under warranty). However, they did agree to pay for blending for me, and that is the option I took. The decrease in value from re-painting did not bother me, as I do not plan on selling the car (also, if the blending job is done correctly, it should not be noticeable). If this is what you want, raise Hell at the dealership until they can get the blending done at no cost to you (after all, it is theoretically the Infiniti plant that cannot get the painting done right in the first place). If this does not work, raise Hell with Infiniti. Note that I did not have to go through any of this hassle (other than the hassle of getting the bumper re-painted).
In the end, my re-paint and blend turned out great, at absolutely no cost to me. Do not pay a penny to resolve your issue. It is the Infiniti factory's fault that the color is off on their aero bumpers, not yours. Good luck with whatever route you choose.
Also, it is hard to notice that the bumper is a different color without actually installing it. I did notice that there seemed to be less pearl (specifically less gold pearl) when the bumper was not on the car, but I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. Actually installing the bumper makes the difference quite glaring.
Yea you can't notice the difference until u install it. It's the same color just that it isn't as "Pearly" as the rest of the car. I'm deffentily gonna call up swell and see what they so for me
I had that exact same problem, with the exact same color on my aero bumper (also from Sewell Infiniti). I do not know if it is specifically an issue with Sewell Infiniti or not, but all I can say is that it happened to me fairly recently as well.

Thanks for the advice I'm gonna do the same thing you did.

I told you guys, I believed that Sewell paints primed Aero bumpers to order.
No one who purchased MW IPL bumpers through OC Infiniti, or Ordeinfinitiparts.com are complaining.
Thats why the $1500 bumpers are going for $999.

They just did a half-asz job of matching the finish. The Diamond White on the Black Series hood I had installed is dead on (no fender blending either). I did leave my car at the body shop the whole time. The paint guy practiced on something a few times until he was confident that he had it down.
I doubt whoever painted it will ever be able to get it right. Have Sewell send it somewhere else (on their dime of course).

The OP is telling me that Sewell is not responding to his/her e-mails. If they really are painting their aero bumpers, then they have a problem on their hands, as they are guilty of false advertising. They claim that the bumpers are factory painted, when everything about the way they look screams that a body shop painted them. I do not know if it is relevant, but the overspray pattern on the aero bumper I got (or lack thereof) is not what I would expect from a factory-painted bumper, and it is not similar to what the back of my factory bumper looked like at all.

There's no way they are selling factory painted bumpers for $999.
Now the retail on an unpainted Aero Kit Bumper is $399, making their cost $200.
Have their body shop painted in house, cost around $100.
Thats $300 cost, they sell for $999, that makes more sense!!
The factory has a formula for blending their paints, and robots programmed to paint consistently, thus a bumper will match the car over months.
Painting a bumper, is no different than a metal body panel, once the primer is applied.
Same as painting metal or wood on my house, once I primer, you cant tell.
The Painted Aero kit bumper Retails for $2079, making the dealer cost around $1000.

Is there a part number for untainted IPL bumpers? If so, wouldn't that be the better route to go? I already have my full IPL kit in platinum graphite, but would have been nice to order an unpainted set so save money. I had to get all of them repainted anyway.
Orderinfinitiparts.com has the Aero bumpers painted for $1K, albeit, no hardware!!
