Question a LITTLE HELP GUY NEW OWNER

Guys, I just bought an 2008 g37, and I do love it, I have been reading this forum before I bought it. Anyways I'm ready to spend a little money to make it look cooler, but I need you guys help.

I was driving yesterday, I hit something on my rear muffler and now its making a funny sounds, when the car is on and park, it looks a little bit up. So I looked on infinitiparts and that just piece is $ 400+ shipping, so I was thinking what if I want to get a different exhaust rear muffler, Do I have to buy the whole system, or can I buy a direct fit rear muffler just the muffler from another brand for a better sound or performance ? or there is not such direct fit with the stock exhaust system?

I also live in florida, and I want to do the headlights job made them gloss black, Iron man, etc, so I was wondering if the 180custom are the only people that can do this type of job, I think take them out, send them to new york and wait a week, it seems too much hassle for me, I would do it if I have to, if you all did it that way. but I want to know your opinion, if you think I should look into a local custom place, or not.

Anyways thank you for your help guys, I bought the Ipl bumper, fog lights, etc, I will post pics when I'm done. I'm excited.

most likely you broke the internal baffels in the rear muffeler section,

mine was broke with out hitting anything

i ended up replacing mine with a no-name ebay muffeler "yes i know its a no name brand" but for the muffeler no one will ever see and it doesnt do much in preformance

mine was a tanabe style dual muffelers and was 180.00 shipped , direct bolt on and took 30 mins to install

it sounds great but

typicaly i spend over 1,000 for full exhaust systems on the my old sti and evo and made it made huge power gains " the evo was running a 4" down pipe"

our factory exhaust systems are pretty decent from the factory

I would spring for a new catback (full exhaust), a little pricey but worth it. Google youtube clips of different exhausts to get a feel for what sound you like.

As for the headlights, there are a couple of other people on the forum that can do them as well. I had mine done by 180 and they do excellent work.

I don't know if the full catback is quite worth it if you're looking for performance gains, (as you won't get any without the intake, HFC and uprev tune as well) which does get very pricey. And even for that, it's still too small of a gain to justify. You'll really only get an aftermarket exhaust for aesthetics, so if look and sound are important to you and you have the money, then an aftermarket exhaust is called for. You can certainly find OEM exhausts in the classifieds section for much cheaper than $400.
