Last night...
Well, I'm currently working the night shift and on my way to work last night, less than 1/2 block from the last turn before arriving, the car in front of me ran over what for a split second looked like a piece of cardboard...well, it wasn't! It ended up being a 1/2 inch piece of laminated particle board, maybe about 5x3 ft. It elevated high enough to hit my bumper and break off. A piece of it managed to go through the faux vent, hit the windshield washer reservoir, push the wheel well against the tire and snap the bumper off its bracket at the fender.
I am sooo pissed off!
I've spent about 2-3K in the last few months in stuff for the car and finally had it almost where I wanted it, and this happens!
My insurance deductible is $500, so whatever the damage is, I'll be out that much, and judging by the few parts that will probably need to be replaced, it will likely go over that...
Some pics:

UPDATE!!
Parts came in at the end of July and I saved some money by installing them myself, which allowed me to add some more body work the bumper needed anyway.
Now you can see the damage once I removed the bumper:

Out with the old and in with the new. This is the Slim Tank, notice how it's shaped different to accommodate the fogs:

And this one is after the bumper was fixed and completely repainted:

I have to wait a few more days for the paint to cure and the body shop will wet sand and buff the newly painted areas. So happy to have her back!!

ouch.. sorry for your troubles man.. A piece of wood that went into your bumper is better than going through your windshield. Not being an A-hole but just looking at the brighter side, you are safe. It definitely sucks though especially going through insurance and what not..
Maybe this is a good time to go IPL if you are into that look.

Yeah, glad it didn't hit the windshield. Not sure if it would've done any damage to it though, so it probably would've been better actually.
Going through the insurance is going to suck, since I have to come up with the first $500, but if it comes up to more than that, then it would make it "worthwhile."
I'll post updates with what the insurance thinks it will cost to fix this tomorrow.
If the cost is high enough, I'd do something nice with the check I get, but certainly not IPL, since the price of that bumper in my color (OB) is through the roof!

Thanks. I don't think you're being an A-hole for saying that. I'm glad the incident didn't involve personal injury, or even worse, that piece of wood could've flown off the road and hit someone else, imagine what would've happened to a person being hit like that...
I was rather surprised at how such a thin piece of garbage managed to cause so much damage... I know I heard the rest of the board hitting up underneath the car, so I hope there is no more damage under there...
Also, I was originally going to add foglights to the car, but decided to buy an exhaust (from Darryl) instead... Glad I didn't buy all those fog light parts, only to have them completely destroyed by this incident a few weeks later!

Took some pictures now that the sun is out. That white plastic looking stuff between the wheel well cover and the piece of wood, used to be the windshield washer reservoir...

Sorry to see and hear about this man, but I cannot agree more with all others, glad you are OK and that the board didn't go higher into the windshield........ about a year ago a car farther ahead of me swerved into the HOV lane crossing through the white striped area lifting a bunch of debris. Well, amongst was an alligator (strip of a blown tire) about 3 to 4 feet long, that went straight into my bumper/hood. Since we were all doing 60+ MPH you can only imagine the damage but then again, just glad it didn't go any higher......
Glad you are ok man! I know you just detailed her too so this has got to suck!! Looks like about 1500 to 2k in damage if you ask me. You may be getting a new bumper.
Good luck with getting her back to the beauty that she is!
