IPL Coupe or IPL Convertible?

I'm looking for feedback on the coupe owners. I'm debating which one. Leaning more on the coupe because The price on the convertible is 60k before any negating which to me is to high for an infiniti. I own an Infiniti QX4 and debating whether to sell it or keep it depending on how well the coupe is as a daily driver
and how it handles in bad weather? I live in the snow belt of the east coast. Only thing is if I keep the QX im not sure the coupe will get driven a whole lot....
and I know it is not good for a car to sit .Any feedback would be appreciated.

If I had to chose between both only. It would be a coupe. Not a big fan of verts.

But this is what I would do. With the best deal out there for IPL being around 45K brand new (just checked in my area yesterday and they care offering me 45K for a brand new IPL compared to a G37S 6MT for 40K.) I would get the G37S and have about 5K extra and get some wheels, Coil overs or springs, exhausts.

To me the IPL just isn't worth my money yet. Performance is just about the same as the regular g37s. Once I see the next IPL series and the price and performance is right I might then think about getting one.

The coupe is not a snow car.

Coupe RWD, no winter tires = sucky
Coupe RWD, winter tires = Will get you home
Coupe AWD = OK as long as the tires are all season
Coupe AWD, winter tires = Your best bet just ground clearance becomes an issue.

Keep the QX for winter and hauling stuff in the back. Don't worry, the G Coupe will get driven! :-)

And yeah, no IPL and if you get the vert you can have basically nothing in the trunk if you want to open the roof on a whim without planning. There is a Vert section, I've heard they have a lot of rattles.

If you don't plan on modifing your car you can't go wrong with an IPL. If you are going to drop it, put rims and a exhaust then don't waste your money. I am not a fan of the verts as you loose your trunk when open, but really just think of how rare an IPL vert will be. I would wait a while as I am sure the price will come down on them as they aren't likely to sell very fast at 60K+. After having driven the G37S and then right after the IPL I would gladly pay an extra 5K for the car. The loaners I get are either a plain G37 or a G37S. I am always glad to get back into my IPL. I have owned mine for a year now and have no regrets.

save your money, if you plan to mod it, then the IPL "upgrades" are most of the first things to be ditched anyway, aside from bumpers which can be added for a lot less than 5k.

Once you are talking 50-60k, I wouldn't even buy an Infiniti. There are a lot of 400-500 hp cars out there in that range that are from new to slightly used.

^^ Exactly what he said, at 60k it is just not worth it. Plenty of other cars you can consider and get more bang for your buck.

Unless you LIKE the G37 Coupe, it's not all about raw performance. Look at the Maserati Gran Turismo, not nearly the fastest exotic out there but one of the most sought after and praised.

Only MODS I will be doing is adding a Kenwood Car portal system with DVD changer, Alpine processor, and subwoofer. I like the coupe, conv. I cant do much with audio upgrades and honestly for 60k I'd rather have an M3.

AMEN on the M3 bro!

If it comes down to either G coupe or Vert, I think I'd go with the convert. I say that mostly because it actually looks a tad more sleek then the regular coupe. I actually just passed one, although he was looking at me because I have rims, tint, etc. I was looking at him because the vert just looks so good. The back lights are way better on the vert IMHO.

I get your point but that's actually considered an exotic car. We are talking a rebranded Nissan. Plus those Maserati's things STAY in the shop bro. SMH.

Thank you for the feedback Its been 10 years since I had a sports car, last was an S2000 and a Z then I went and got an SUV because I got tired of getting stuck in bad weather and had a small accident on the S so I want to do it right. Was ready to do one 4 years ago but had a wonderful child come into the world. I did modify the audio/ video system in the QX. Any more comments are welcome!

Price not being a factor, I would go with the IPL convertible over the coupe. Then mildly drop it once I got it and call it a day.
The convertible looks a little tame in the non S and S version and doesn't quite execute well with the roof line IMO. But in the IPL version and lowered like the concept model, its on another level- looks even better than the coupe IMO. The body kit offsets the roof line or I should say complements the roof line and with the top down its quite sexy. As far as performance, the extra ponies in the IPL engine and aggressive suspension tuning should be just enough to offset the extra weight factor in the vert

Id go with the coupe...I'm not a fan of how the vert looks. The roof line doesn't flow well with the rest of the car. It looks good with the top down, but doesn't look good when its up IMO
