Just got car, trunk doesn't really pop up?

Hello Folks,

I was wondering if the trunk lid is supposed to lift up very much when I press the release button?

Right now when I press the trunk release, it pops just enough for me to fit a couple fingers in there and lift open the trunk. It's causing me to scuff up the paint just under the trunk lid as my finger nails graze the area when I need to open the trunk lid.

Thanks!

Yeah, it doesn't pop all the way open, just enough to reach under.

I like that it doesn't lift much because I have accidentally hit the trunk release on my key before and if it would have fully opened, everyone would have know and had access to my car. But I wonder if you could find lift supports that fit that were meant to lift like a hood, If that would fully open the trunk when you pressed the button, for those that wanted it to do so.

I’m sure it’s a safety feature preventing a full trunk opening that at freeway speeds could block your rear vision. And as a poster here suggested, while parked it is unnoticeable to anyone seeking unwanted access to your trunk. I’m also certain that the LCD display warning that the trunk is open has been useful to many of us.

I thought that was an air brake feature.. I think I need to take mine to the dealer.

I've gotten in my car a few times where it says the trunk is open and I get the wtf feeling. I keep my key clipped inside my back pocket so apparently I sit on it a few times lol.
