Me Too!

Wow! I have this exact same problem! So all I have to do is walk into my Infiniti dealer and say I want a new steering wheel?

Finish came off around wheel controls on 2008

Wow I didn't think of buying a new steering wheel. It's way out of warranty. So I'm a painter and i carefully re-painted the entire surface with acrylic paint. But really, this should not come off so easily. I have since purchased a 2013 - last of the g37's. They call them Q's now for $10k more and it's the same car! Anyway, I appreciate the tip on replacing the wheel under warranty. I'm keeping an eye on mine because I love the car as far as style and acceleration. Too bad the quality is lacking.

Infiniti parts has the trim for $11. I installed it myself, but follow all the instructions in the DIY carefully. If you dont align the steering wheel properly or re install the air bag unit as it was, you will trigger engine lights and have a steering wheel that is completely mis aligned. I had to put it together and pull it apart multiple times before I got it right.

@ desertmike680, what "Infiniti parts", this one Your First Source for Factory Infiniti Parts and Accessories ?
I checked and they are around $80+ for nav
Both my coupe and wife's sedan are out of warranty and looking to replace both trims.
Thanks Josh

I thought the Infiniti would have better quality than that......if the previous owner used plasti dip on it would it act that way? Anyone else have this issue?
I taped it all off,,covered the buttons , all blue masking tape...Scraped the residual paint gently till it was all off after taping.....A little gentle high grit sanding and then repainted it black with High Heat Engine pain in Satin finish..Worked great and it ain't goin' nowhere.

That is not a place to put Plasti dip and I'm certain it was factory paint.

I highly doubt that it's significantly more expensive to make one version versus another. The price is probably inflated due to lack of supply or more likely because the demand is high enough that they can get away with it. This is a great group buy waiting to happen...
