We all feel bad about this accident for which you were not at fault. But I can’t help commenting that you removed the tail light tint before an inspector could see it (that in itself may be illegal), yet you say you would not go dark for safety reasons. If the tint was light enough to be legal and safe, then why remove it?

I know a possible answer is that her insurance company would be looking for a way to nail you anyway. I understand that, but nonetheless it reaffirms what has been said in other threads about the vulnerabilities of tinting tail lights to any shade, including a legal tint.

Thanks Cruz - yes, you can see the tint on the tails is so very light. I removed it as a precaution - but my body shop guy said he has never had a problem in the past with tinted tails. And he's an approved repair facilty with State Farm and Liberty.

More pics...

3 weeks into repairs - can't wait to get her back. My shop is using only new parts - and some have been on back order.

I visited her on Saturday and she was stripped from the front seats back of EVERYHING. Down to metal.

Ugh.

Yea that sucks glad you get it back but the sad thing is that it will never be the same as you will always know it was hit. It will always be on your mind when something goes wrong in the back somewhere (did that wreck cause that to go). I know as I had a new truck that got T-boned on a small street by a lady trying to cross the road. It was like Days of Thunder when I saw her coming. She hit me (with a corolla LOL) right in the left rear wheel. I am sure that it pushed the axle in. I ripped the bumper right off her car. I got out cussing saying how could she miss a big blue truck. Several years down the road I had problems with the rear end and always wondered if she caused it.

ParkStr8, looks like you have a decent shop working on it. Cool that you can check in and see how it's going. Having a good shop doing the work should really alleviate your concerns about it "not being the same."

Not everyone can keep their car exactly the same as it rolled off the boat. Just not the way life is. But when it all comes down to it, it's just a hunk of sexy metal and there isn't any reason why good work couldn't make it as good as new.

I get her back in a few hours...

As a bonus - I'm having the Aero side sills installed...I'll have to retint the tails tho - my shop wouldn't do it.

Can't wait to be rid of my Lexus ES350...ick.
