@Paulie - One of the highways I take has a speed limit of 50......so theoretically I would have to speed (to get to 55) to get the maximum efficiency?

As soon as I hit city driving, my mpg just completely tanks.
I'm going to be getting an oil change soon, I'll get the filters and everything looked at when I go to do that. Just bought the car less than 2000 miles ago so I'm hoping the filters are clean.
If you want good gas mileage in the city a hybrid should be in your future. None of the cars in this class, gets good gas mileage in city type driving. Stop and go for miles on end is a gas tank drainer, and not just in this car.

I drive 20 miles of highway each way to work and I've come to the conclusion 55-60MPH is about optimum for my driving. I can average mid to high 20s (MPG) going at that speed.

Long distance trips I've done (600+ miles) I got better then 28 mpg usually using the cruise set around 10 mph over posted speed limit.

I take road trips between Regina to Calgary (770km) about 6 times now and I found going 130km/h (about 80mph) was best for fuel consumption at highway speeds. I varied the speed from 110, 120, 130, and 140 for my first 4 trips. looking at the fuel consumption gauge, it was kept under 10L/100km going 130km/h the whole time except for steep hill climbs. And that's with an 09 G37S convertible. I hope that helps.

ps- I apologize to my fellow Americans, I didn't do all the conversions for miles. =D

If gas mileage is a concern, you're really driving the wrong type of car.

Way too many variables o come up with such a cut and dry graph. Aerodynamics, gearing, engine size, engine load etc.

Just because I'm still concerned about saving gas, doesn't mean I should get another car. That's like telling a construction worker to get another job because he's asking for the best health insurance company.....Gas mileage isn't that much of a concern, I'm a college student and I took care of my school expenses and my parents help pay for gas and I don't want to take advantage of that and I'm trying to optimize my driving habits so they don't have to shell out as often.

Anyways, took my moms car out today, it was under 2,000 RPM the whole trip :0

We all know driving like a grandma doing the speed limit or less will give you the best mileage. But who really like to drive like a grandma?
