Bull ****. You must work for Carchex Warranties because I don't believe that you can't tell that is a plug (and a pretty lame one at that).

I have never and would never consider a warranty outside that of the auto manufacturers.

Honestly, warranties for a car are almost always a bad investment.

When the extended warranty expires you don't get that money back. Has anybody had a good experience with extended warranties? or actually broke something that bad on the car?

Create a separate savings/emergency account (IngDirect?) (don't touch it!) and put that money there and keep adding to it every month, if something does happen you have that money to pay for repairs, if nothing happens to your car which is usually the case that money is still yours and adding to it will keep you covered for the next year.

Just my 2 cents. ;-)

Why would they give your money back when it's over?
Extended warranties are like insurance...Just like insurance sometimes it gets used and and sometimes it doesn't. With the high cost of repairs these days it could pay off if something happens...If you're a person that keeps a car for quite some time instead of trading every 3-4 years, it could very well pay off...but it might not. One transmission replacement is more than the cost of an extended warranty...

I had a complete AC system replaced on one car and a transmission replaced on another...both under extended warranty. Both were more than the cost of the warranty.

Do you get your insurance money back each year if you have no accidents?

If you don't have any problems or repairs that warranty insurance goes away obviously, if you have your own spending account not only do you have the money but you gain interest as well.

Of course it is true that something can happen, cars break down all the time and it is up to you to do the research and pick a good carrier like he is doing now.

I am giving my opinion based on my experience. I take care of my vehicles and knock on wood have been able to cover repairs or accidents with insurance and saved away money.

What are you paying for warranty? Do you have an idea how much Infiniti extended warranty cost before replying to my comment? next time read the whole comment before trolling.

No trolling, just stating my opinion like you did.

Nice response to my opinion...that always goes far in a forum. I read your comments and gave my experiences just like you asked...I also commented on your comment about not getting your money back...

Doesn't always matter how well you take care of your car, there are so many things that can go wrong with them today and nothing is cheap.

I take excellent care of my cars...and the two that the warranty paid off on were no exception. No matter how well the cars were taken care of the AC system went bad on one and the tranny went bad on the other...no fault of mine. The last two vehicles I've had didn't need anything repaired...that's the way it goes.

Just because someone doesn't agree with your opinion and gives there's, that doesn't constitute "trolling"...but it does show one's immaturity to make that comment.

I was giving my "opinion" to the thread creator and you quote my comment with a negative remark. Take it as you like.

I think I just wasted 5min of my time replying.

If you're a member of a Credit Union... they have awesome deals on warranties... they usually are more extensive, very easy to get and cost 1/3rd the price of a dealership... i would know, since I work for Infiniti

Yes, you did because you read it as a slam towards you instead of another opinion...I gave you my opinion and because it's not the same as yours you say I'm trolling.

Believe me, that is in no way a "slam". I didn't ask for your opinion, nor do I care.

Why don't you reply to Tbone with your opinion and stop getting off the topic.

Try go to another dealership and don't mention about your modification. If they ask you tell them ur car is stock.

Nice attitude in a public forum...

Maybe no one wanted your opinion: "Honestly, warranties for a car are almost always a bad investment"

How's this from my initial opinion?
"Extended warranties are like insurance...Just like insurance sometimes it gets used and and sometimes it doesn't. With the high cost of repairs these days it could pay off if something happens...If you're a person that keeps a car for quite some time instead of trading every 3-4 years, it could very well pay off...but it might not. So I'll add this to that statement:
And just like everyone knows with insurance and extended warranties, if you have mods it may not be covered...

The most logical option is take off any mods before getting warranty work done if it could affect it..

Oh, and by the way, your "opinion" did not help Tbone with his issue at hand

Just a word of advice i got an extended warranty for additional 3 years back in august and it was well worth it. I am covered with maximum coverage inside and out. Even if i put after market wheels on my car if something where to happen it will cover new after market wheels i paid about $1700 for both the wheels package and the whole deal. (Also had a dash problem, my dash above my steering wheel started peeling up fixed it for free. About a $427 repair and updated my ECU all for free. It sure as hell feels great walking out with new stuff and not paying a cent.

An Infiniti extended warranty does not cost what they ask for!!
They can be had for less than 50% of the asking price.
The price bump at mileage levels is a bunch of sales BS also.
I drove my car 6 months, and decided I was going to keep it. I then walked in to my selling dealer armed with knowledge, and a check.

Vasher is also correct, never ever buy a 3rd party warranty, claims are almost always declined, if they do honor your claim, non OEM parts, remanufactured, or salvage yard parts are requested to be installed.

I spent nearly 18 years working for various G.M. dealers, I've seen it all.

Owning a factory extended warranty also puts you in the good graces of the service department. Items that are not usually warrantied are taken care of with no charge, they manage to pass that repair along the warranty route.
