Unhappy OEM Exhaust TIP

This is for all those that still have their oem exhaust.

Is it just my car, or does the left exhaust tip hang lower than the right. There is ~3cm gap between the top of the tip and the bumper (cutout for the exhuast tip). There is only ~2cm gap distance on the right one.

Its not a big deal, but I noticed it during my usual routine of stealing another glance at my car after its parked. Could you guys check yours??? It kinda bothers me, just a little.

Unhappy

Is it a hanger problem or actual exhaust construction?

I believe it's the hanger. Mine wasn't like that but i remember seeing some cars on the lot that were. My bro has an Accord and his left also hangs lower.

Im pretty sure its the exhaust hanger, not a problem with the exhaust itself. You could theoretically fix it by mounting a new hanger. I just fabbed up a custom exhaust and adjusted the height of the tips when we mounted/welded the hangers.

They're all like that. When I switch between my exhaust and my OEM exhaust, it always bugs when I see the little slant... OCD at it's worst.

Same here. When I get some free time I'm going to bust out the welder and fix my exhaust so it fits the openings better.

Mine doesn't seem to be that way, heck I am not going to check either as if it's off I will go crazy till I get it fixed. If I haven't noticed it after 6 months it should be fine...............

I'm happy I see that I'm not alone. I saw my left was a little lower than my right a couple of weeks ago and now it bothers me. My exhaust has been recently rattling and I thought that may have been the reason. Apparently not though. I'm going to the dealership tomorrow...

FWIW, I've had 4 different stock mufflers on my car. All from 3 different oem vendors.

My first was the original, which was slightly crooked. The latest one (replaced in nov 2011 through warranty for the rattle) was really raspy near the top end (honestly sounded terrible inside the car), but the tips were completely level with the openings on the bumper. I had them replace it because this rasp sounded like a bad rattle, and the new-new one still did it...but maybe 30% better. I gave up, and they said there was nothing they could do about it since it works fine but sounds funny at WOT. Both of the newer ones hung perfectly even.

I just swapped it out with my dad's (replaced via warranty in 2010) which did not have the rasp problem, and this one is def 1-1.5cm off on the left side. It also hung this way on my dad's.

This leads me to believe that it is actually the exhaust and not the hangers.

And I'm not sure if I would have them replace the stock exhaust unless the rattle is terrible. I hated the new exhaust sound more than anything else, and if you get a muffler from that supplier (likely), you're stuck with it unless you go aftermarket.

+1 I had my exhaust warrantied because it was crooked and one tip actually stuck out more. The service manager brought my into the shop and there was no adjustment that could make it flush (at least for my issue)
Some OEM exhausts are made straight but a majority are slightly off. Theres been a couple threads about this in the past.
And my new exhaust is still not lined up, but better than before.
