Self Maintainance?

Hey everyone,

Its about that time for my car's first maintenance. I was just wondering who on the forum does their own maintenance? What increments have you found best to do them in? When is it smart to take it to infiniti or do it yourself? Thanks!

i do! its very easy. An oil change usually takes me an hour to do with simple wheel ramps. just get a 5 liter bottle of mobile one 5w-30 and pour it all in and your set!

Oil and air filter (engine and cabin) changes are no-brainers. 15K maintenance is a joke.

At 30K you need to do the tranny and rear diff, which may warrant bringing it in depending on whether you want to do it or not. Not that difficult but you need to get the car raised and level.

is it worth it to do them at the dealer incase you want to sell the car later? I have heard that its always a good incentive if you have all your proof of maintenance and care?

Is there a maintenance guide on the forum as in what needs to be done when etc?

The maintenance guide should be part of your owner's manual. There's two schedules, light and severe duty. Most folks fall somewhere in between.

Even if you do it yourself, you should still keep a log and all part receipts. I buy my oil from walmart, and bought a 10pk of OE filters on ebay. Receipts from all that went into a folder.

The rear end is easy to do. The autotrans isn't, and it might be better to have the dealer do it as they have a machine used for flushing. The MT trans is a piece of cake and is done the same as the diff.
