2008 g37s coupe vs. 2011 g37x sedan

So, I dropped off my 2008 g37s coupe 6mt at the dealer this morning and they gave me a 2011 g37x sedan 5at as a loaner car. I have 39,000km (24,375mi) on my coupe and there's 8000km (5000mi) on this sedan.

My question... is there something wrong with my car or are the sedans just that much faster than the coupes? This 5at sedan is a freaking rocket. My coupe doesn't feel anywhere near this fast off the line.

The 2011 G37x is a 7at, not 5. Maybe the 7at's have shorter first gears giving the impression of faster acceleration?

It must be a 2010 because when I put it in manual mode, it only goes to 5. Any videos out there of a stock 5at g37 sedan vs. stock g37s coupe?

The 2010s were also 7 speed automatics.

Sedans have a more aggressive throttle tip-in combined with lower weight. It's much worse going from a vert to a sedan, makes my car seem like it's missing a few spark plugs.

its an illusion...anything newer feels better or different only because you dont drive it everyday. Im also sure being 4 wheel drive makes it pull harder (more grip), & if im not mistaken the newer models have more torque than the 08's.

actually all wheel drive can give you the feeling that it doesn't have as much throw your head back feel...simply because its pulling from all 4 wheels...

not sure why that G37x feels faster..its true that the sedan is a lil faster than the coupe...but the difference you are talking about..not sure. lol

maybe the dealership chipped it...so it makes you wanna buy a new G and trade in the "old" one. lol

It's the AWD that makes it feel faster, especially off the line.

^^ what he said.. same engine. Differences are in the weight and gearing.

I had an 11' loaner (not an X) and It actually didn't feel any faster than my coupe. In fact it felt like my coupe pulls harder for some reason. I'm not really feeling the autotranny even in sport mode.
