just got taken advantage of.

not really sure where to put this but, i bought my car mid august used its an 08 the car fax was clean and said the car was a lease out of california. today i noticed that the whole back of the car had been repainted, they stopped at the doors and didnt even blend anything. there was over spray on the license plate lights, along with the exhaust tips. can i do anything about this or am i just SOL and they got me. the car is two different colors not sure how i didnt notice this until now.

did you by it private party? because that is a "as is" sale unless otherwise noted in a contract of some kind

mine was too. They painted the front bumper i could tell cause there was over spray on the under carriage. But id say if it looks bad talk to the dealership

You're SOL. In a perfect world, you'd have recourse, but here in the real world, you're SOL. All sales are "as-is" in the used car world, even a CPO. No dealer will rope themselves into a contract for a used car.

#1 car buying rule: Don't fall in love with the car on the lot. It has a flaw, you just have to find it.

Honestly, if you didnt notice the car was 2 diff colors for 2 months, you kinda deserve it.

You can never fully trust carfax. If you have an accident and dont report it, then just pay a shop to fix it, it never goes on the carfax.

I don't know Stoofy if that's true in all states. In GA, body shops are required to report body work due to an accident and typically shows up on a Carfax. My buddy hit a light pole in a parking lot and it damaged his bumper. The body shop replaced his bumper and painted of course. It showed up a carfax and he didn't realize it till he went to sell it.

so can anyone give me a rough estimate on how much it would cost to repaint the enitre car. there are some chips and stuff on the hood along with some marks were bird dung ate the clear coat.

To do it the right way, about 4 to 5 grand.

would an insurance company cover the repainting the hood that was damaged from bird poo. left the car for like a week came back the paint on the hood was all messed up. thats just a curiosity of mine.
