Fast Intentions Interior Sound

Hey guys,

After much reading, debating, and influence from my 370Z friend haha, I decided to go with FI catback exhaust w/ 18" resonators new Xpipe. Super stocked to finally get this installed in December!

My car is 3.5 weeks old, and I am absolutely in love.

I was wondering if you guys could point me to some sound clips of the exhast with stock CATS for the INTERIOR. Ive looked at several sound clips, but it was hard for me to find some interior ones. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
My only hesitation for gettin this exhaust wast that it would be too loud inside, even with stock cats. So im hoping just to understand what I should be expecting. Thanks so much

i don't have any clips for you but i can tell you that there is a drone at certain speeds which is loud and annoying. other than that (and it is very brief) i love the exhaust.

there are a lot of clips on youtube / on here just do a search.

Do you have an AT or 6MT? There was a thread a while back that showed the AT guys noticing drone where most 6MT guys did not, also not sure about 7AT guys vs 5AT?

I have no drone unless lugging around in a high gear at a lower speed.

I've had this exhaust on for over 5 months now, and after I removed the HFC's, the sound in the interior is perfect. You can hear it well, but it never gets to the point of annoying--and I'm very particular about noises and such. You will hear it mostly between 1.2k - 2.0k RPM's. It slighty drones your interior around those RPM's as well, but it's not annoying.

If your 370Z friend is nearby, take a test drive with him. In your G, it'll be more quiet than in the Z, because we have more sound-proofing in our cars. So you'll have a great idea of what it sounds like. Unless you have TP's or HFC's with the exhaust, the interior will not be annoying. You'll be in love with the sound. And sometimes, you'll forget it's there.

This vid has some great interior sound clips.

I have 5AT and I drone around 1.3k - 2.0k RPM the most, especially if it shifts too early into 5th while accelerating. If driving around 55 - 60 MPH, I can hear the exhaust over the freeway. Normally driving 65+ MPH, when the revs hold around 3k, there is no drone. It's funny that the 6MT get no drone, though. If my car held its RPM's in the 2.5k on the freeway, I would always hear it.

Where do 6MT's have their RPM's driving, say, between 65 - 70 MPH?

I have stock cats w/ 18" res ...ss setup. I have ZERO interior drone

...just a HINT at like 58 or 59 miles an hour before it was fully broke in, but now I don't have a single bit.

Wow. Seriously?! I wonder why there's such a dramatic difference between the 6MT and the 5AT? If I go slow enough on the freeway for my RPM's to drop down to 2200-2700 in 5th gear, I hear the exhaust sound until I speed back up to around 2900+ RPM--and it's long, long broken in. You guys are lucky.

I made the same decision as you,
I'll be running the Round SS with 18" resonator and the new X Pipe,
and I drive a 2011 AWD Coupe 7AT

I placed my order about 2 weeks ago, and estimated to arrive to me sometime in December

I have the 7AT. Thanks for the video clip, I love the way it sounds. Im not concerned with the outside, I think its beyond the perfect tone. Just trying to avoid more headaches on long freeway trips haha, thats all. Thanks so much for the input everyone. I am excited for the gains, I guess only I can tell if I get annoyed or not. My install date is Dec 2nd! So now, to decide on the intake before...

Here is mine. 6MT with Stillen Gen 3.
Start around 20-30 secs into it. And it's with windows open sorry. Not the best as I only go to 3rd I think, but it's something.

You won't be annoyed, trust me. You'll, rather, be marveled at the amazing sound, lol.
