Review: Polishing your SS exhaust tips!
Review: Polishing your SS exhaust tips!
So, after having my beautiful Fast Intentions exhaust tips out on the road for a while, I decided to give them a nice polish to make them look brand new. I did some thread search on Google, and most people recommended "Neverdull." Then I called up Fast Intentions, and they recommended "Mothers Mag Polish." To figure this out better, I got both (fairly cheap, around $5). I used one on each tip to see which one worked better, and all I can say is that they bring exactly identical results, so it doesn't matter which one you use.

Sexy-looking tips afterwards: <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n120/Bodya97071/WP_000202.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I was happy with the polishing results, and the entire process took about 15 minutes. I'd recommend either or for your polishing needs, although I personally liked Mothers better. Both are simple and easy to use with instructions (Duuhhrr).
Keep in mind that you'll also be better off with using a regular microfiber cloth to wipe away the polish.
I think I even gained, like, 10 horsepower after gettin' 'em polished up!

I have the same exhaust but with the SS mufflers so it looks like I'll be getting a couple cans of that Mothers to get those canisters nice and pretty too. Thanks for the compare.
My wife's 2005 rx8 had really dirty tips since the rotary motor in there burns oil. I decided to try some engine degreaser to get the soot off the tips and after two applications, the soot all came off leaving some dull looking tips. I decided to try some polish on them and they came to such a mirror finish that my wife actually thought I installed an aftermarket exhaust system. She said the tips looked better than when she bought the car new. I used engine brite degreaser for the baked on soot and Meguiar's all metal polish to get a mirror-like shine.

Yeah, Mothers will work great. Even so, one can of it will last you quite a while. You really only use a tiny bit of it, even if you have SS canisters rather than CF like mine.
And yeah, the mirror finish is amazing. If you view my pics full size, you can see the reflection of me taking a picture of it with my phone, lol.

Neverdull basically saves you the part with the microfiber cloth, but it runs out faster that way.
