09 vs 08 G37c

hey guys! Looking to take the dip on a used g37 coupe... gonna go for an automatic b/c i'm a noob, leaning on the journey package.

I know the 09 is 7speed vs 08-5speed. Is it worth paying extra for?

Also, is it feasible to pop in the supercharger later on or is that dumb for an automatic?

TIA!

5 at seems to hold up better to the SC. That said only I and one other guy with a Z had a SC and 7AT tranny problems. A SC on the AT is not dumb. I have it and love it. The 7AT will save you some money on fule. I have had both an 08 and 09. Totaled the 08 wooops

The 7AT will have a slight edge on acceleration and a bit better gas mileage. But many say that the 5AT responds better to throttle inputs and holds up better to FI.

I wouldn't let that stop you from getting a manual. If it's something that you think will make your driving experience more enjoyable then I say go for it! Rent some car that's a manual for like 25 bucks a day for a weekend and learn how to drive it. Not your clutch, not your problem. I learned on a 1986 Nissan pickup truck and went straight into driving an S2000, it's mostly about confidence!

Either way, good luck with your purchase and hope you enjoy the new car! Don't have much to add to the auto discussion as my car's a 6 sp.

I agree with cardoza - check out a manual first and see what you really want. I always prefer manuals, but I realize that is just that: a preference that changes from person to person. I'd at least check out a manual tranny so you can make your decision and then not 2nd guess it later.

I test drove an 08 G37S with the 5 spd, I can honestly say that the trans doesnt do justice for that car, throttle lag was a bit much for me, acceleration was a little slushy, I would test drive both, I have never got the chance to drive the 7spd.

Noobs can learn to drive stick shift...don't get an automatic on these cars because that's lame. The car is 1000% more fun with a stick than an slushbox.

LOL...negative. That's only true when you come across a 6MT driver that doesn't know how to drive.

Automatics are for weenies.

I would love nothing more than to get behind the wheel of a G in 6MT. After test driving the 5AT theres no way I could get this car in automatic.
