I believe it's all one unit. I just had mine replaced today by the dealer. Try going underneath

Are you trying to drive without racking up miles on the odometer?

can you elaborate what happened and why is the dealer trying to charge you for something that seems so out of place to get broken or fried

that's covered under warranty 100% unless you tampered with it before. no way the dealership won't honor the warranty. i can feel you must've done something to it. anyway, GL

Your story doesn't add up. If your fuel gauge doesn't move, it's usually due to a bad sensor. There is no reason for the wiring to go bad behind the speedo. If the wire breaks, it can be broken anywhere from the gas tank to speedo. I dont see how you are so sure something is wrong behind there.

From what you said doesnt sound like you're trying to replace anything. Odometer fraud is a federal offense. Don't do it.

Even if you disconnect it the miles are still going to rack up. The computer racks up the miles and sends the info to the digital odometer. Even if you roll the car when its off it still counts..

if you disconnect the odometer the car wont rack up miles. There is no secondary odometer... People do it all the time. Not sure hows its done. I just wouldn't do it because it really illegal
