Hello,

I have a 2011 G37 IPL and i want to swap my muffler for the Tanabe Medalion Axleback muffler. I know someone how has the Tanabe muffler and wants to swap mufflers with me plus i have to pay him $250. Is that a fair deal. I am not sure because the IPL/Nimso muffler is not easy to find online and they are very expensive from the dealership.

 

don't do it! if you were local i would trade you straight for my HKS catback for your Nismo exhaust

I dunno if there are many that would be classified as an upgrade. Of course the HKS would be, but that's the exhaust to get anyway.
Maybe a one for one whould be him getting a little of the better deal. Nismo axle back goes for around $800 I think. Tanabe around $700.

I don't think that's a fair deal. The IPL's stock exhaust is already pretty sweet and good for performance. If I were you, unless I'm getting a brand new, complete cat-back exhaust that I know will actually benefit me, no trade is worth it. I would have the IPL's stock over almost any other. Plus, if you have to pay the guy, too, it's a rip-off.

 

It's not that serious, I'm sure you can find Nismo 370z's selling those mufflers. I would trade if I were you. But you should get a full exhaust not just an axleback.

 

The IPL already comes with a true dual flow, so i dont want to change the entire exhaust. I just want some more noise. I ordered the Stillen HI-Flo Cats so i will see what they do. But i dont think they will give me the same sound as a new muffler kit. Thats why i want to change my muffler too.

 

yeah change the mufflers than and just leave the stocks in your garage or sell them. I agree that exhaust is quiet and weak sauce.. most nismo 370's swap it out, I don't know why IPL owners think it's gold.

Every "factory" exhaust costs more, I'm sure the stock G37 exhaust is probably more than all the aftermarket's as well buying it new from a dealership, but it's still trash.
