Chances are if your car battery had sat for any period of time dead, it's not in good shape. Just because it takes a charge doesn't mean its OK. Have a load test performed on it. When storing a car you should take the battery out and put it on a trickle/maintenance charger or at minimum do that with the battery in the car every month or so.
