Push and let go .... learned this by accident (I'm a dummy). Had a starting issue where the car would not start. Thinking that when I released the button it would stop cranking ...not. You have to push it again to stop the cranking on a failed start.
Incorrect. That is only there in case your battery dies. Otherwise it doesn't do squat.
So having the key in my pocket v. in the slot makes no difference to the key's battery life. Great. Since I have only one, anyone know how to get a spare without going to stealerships?

You'll get a low battery warning when the battery starts to die. Just buy a new battery and replace it when that happens. The batteries are $2 watch batteries; a lot cheaper than buying a second intelligent key.
You can buy extra intelligent keys from eBay but you still need the dealer to program them.

If you have some kind of premium AAA service then you can just call them up and say you lost your key and they will replace it for free.
I thought it was just a gimmick until I used it. It's really convenient not having to fumble for the keys when walking to the car...seems like I'm always carrying something.
Plus, you can put your seat belt on as the car is starting itself. That must save me 5 seconds every time I get in the car.
