when starting your car..do you guys push the button once and let go..or hold on to the button until the car starts?

Yes, you don't have to hold it down. Just a quick push and that's it.

 

Clutch in, tap the button, exhaust rattle (for 15-20 seconds)

I guess I could bitch about the exhaust but it goes away

but seriously, I just press in the start button and let go
I also put the key in, since it doesn't wear down the key's battery as quickly, I believe (someone confirm this?)

just one press and release is all you need. no holding down needed. Actually called my buddy out on this in his maxima cuz i saw him hold it down. He didn't know you could let go as long as your clutch(or break for auto) is in.

Push and let go. I've never had to hold it at all.

 

I get sooo annoyed when people hold the button down to start the car. It's a push button, not a push and hold.

 

I just do a quick push and let go but my girlfriend just holds the button till the car starts. Don't wanna make her feel bad about not knowing so I don't say anything

You push it once, but if you hold it , there is no difference. Its not like with cars that use keys in which you risk burning the starter if you hold it past on for too long.
