Turning in Lease with Mods

My lease is up in a few weeks. Has anyone done this? And what did they do/say?

I've got a lowered suspension, camber arms and intake. Frankly don't feel like removing them. Anyone every dealt with this before?

Thanks

-Steve

There's a pretty good chance you'll get billed to return the car to stock. I guess you'll find out.

so your are giving them free parts, so then they can bill you for oem parts... all cause you're lazy.

Lesson will be learned here.

The question was I'm just curious if anyone has actually done this and what the outcome was. Not speculation.

No "Lesson Learned", I don't need the father shaking his finger lecture.

It really doesn't matter who's done it and what their outcome was. This is clearly a "gray" area, your results may vary...

I think it really depends on your dealer, and even more if you plan to buy another car from them.

I turned my car in with tint, LEDs, and a few other little things(nothing like suspension) and they didn't even bat an eye. And my dealer is always patronizing me for any modifications and threatening that they will not cover, make me pay for it, etc.

So if you have a mod-friendly dealer, and you are ready to walk away with another car, they will let you slide.

Why not return to stock though, and sell the parts? Not that you will make your money back, but you'll at least get some of it back and then you won't have stock parts sitting in your garage.

Friend of mine turned in a 335i lease with some mods. Dealer didn't care since he walked out with a M3. I guess you'll never know until you turn your car in. Good luck.

I never heard any of my friends giving the car back with mods except like tinted windows or whatever...I'm sure you're going to take them off and sell them on here and make some money off of them right? lol

Asked my friend and he said that he actually removed everything but the downpipes. I guess the dealer never noticed.

When you lease a car, you are not allow to mod it. Simple as that. You can return to stock and hope that they don't find out.

Don't know why anyone would try to return a lease car with mod. It's a no-brainer that they are going to charge you.

The dealership will take the car in, someone in sales, parts, or service will take your after market parts and put them on his/her car for free, or sell them on eBay/craigslist and then the dealership will bill you retail value for buying/installing the OEM part. You're going to make everyone at the dealership happy. Their probably going to charge you over a grand for the spring work alone. I'd google the price of those OEM parts before you make a decision.

They WILL bill you for returning it to stock.
The air cleaner assemblies with the intake tubes run over $1000 for both sides.
Upper control arms and 4 springs are $1200.
Add labor.
Looks like a $3000 bill.

Put the OEM parts back.

Just out of curiosity, what did you do with your stock intakes???
I noticed you're looking to buy some.

It all depends on what they catch, and what they want to see. If you sign, then they find it later, they aren't billing you for anything.
