Debating between AWD and 'sport package'
Debating between AWD and 'sport package'
I'm looking at a number of 2010 (and older) models, premium and navigation and now I'm debating between the sport and awd.
I'm trying to get a sense for how much 'feel' and nimbleness I'll lose by going with the awd version g37x, instead of going with a standard journey coupe that has the sport package.
Right now, I can find a number of Premium/nav/awd available in my color schemes, but I can't find any premium/nav/sport (auto, not manual).
[rather, they're about 150 miles away, so I can get them , but their not easy to test drive]
----
Unfortunately, I'm about 150 miles from nearest official dealership, so the only vehicles that are easily drivable near me, are used 2008 models. I've driven a G37S and a standard G37. The standard felt much more sluggish, but the TPMS warning was going off. They hadn't aired up the tires just as the temperature dropped to single digits. And no G37Xs are near me.
Any one familar with both the G37X and a journey G37 with sport package, who can provide me with a better sense of the differences in feel and performance of 'AWD versus the sports package'?
Also, anyone familiar enough with the 2011s to know if the 'sports package' that is claimed to be available with the 2011 G37AWD would be worth waiting a couple months and paying multiple grand more for?

The S has quicker steering and more precise steering. The ride is firmer. There is a little less body roll in hard turns. The LSD on the Sport allows for a more confident feel when taking sharp turns at higher throttle.
To me the Sport is a must have. But I enjoy more spirited driving and I pay attention to those porting details. For many, the X is more desirable. In summary, it is really just a matter of preference. Without the Sport package, the G still drives well.

where are you located? the X might be helpful based on that. this is my first winter with my g37x and ill tell you, im glad i went with the awd.. its saved my butt lots of times. the sport is stiffer which is a bit nicer for the track and a bit harsher for daily driving. also the seats on the sport are different and people either tend to love them or hate them
I have a 2010 G37xS. With the xS package, you do not get the bigger Akebono brakes... that's ok for me. No tracking planned. You do get the better steering though... as well as the paddle shifters and sport seats. You really have to sit in one with the sport seats. To a lot of people, that's been a deal breaker as far as comfort. Some find the sport seats to tight. Took me a few weeks to get used to mine, but I love them.
Since I'm in Chicago, I already had my mind made up to go with the xS. And I couldn't be happier.
If an xS is too difficult to get, and you have future plans to mod the car, go with a regular x. You can get wheels/springs/sway bars/exhaust/intake/etc.
If you have no plans to let the mod bug infect you, hold out for exactly what you want. They will be able to find one.
