Help !?!?

Okay I own a silver 2007 Infiniti G35s with chrome wheels, I was turning left going 25-30 mph and hit ice and slush, I was able to slow 10-15+ mph and hit going around 15-18 mph. I kept sliding sideways(front end plowing, I just got new rear tires so it stayed planted) into the curb and could not stop or steer away(had the wheels cranked all the way to the left). Then Bang !! I hit it with front right wheel, chipped wheel with some curb rash, and on the way home it wobbled at 40-45 mph and the steering wheel shook, above that it was violent. So you guys think I just have a bent rim and is this repairable ????

i'll be more concerned about your suspension component than the wheels. my advice is to have someone do a thorough check on that. better off put it on the alignment rack too.

Sorry to hear about the accident. Wheel is not repairable IMO. Especially if you chipped the chrome. There are wheel repair shops out there, but they do more bad then good. Better off buying a new wheel.

+1 to that.

I had one of my 19" BBS wheels repaired on my old car and it cost around 150 bucks, rode fine but they could never match the color just perfect. Should have just ponied up and originally bought a new one.

I did this awhile back with my other car and I ended up needing a tie rod. Take it somewhere to get looked at. You will need an alignment. When you get an alignment, they will be able to tell you what else might be wrong. Good luck.

$1100, Right Front Bearing, Right Front Lower Control Arm, Right front Wheel, and maybe a knuckle, I have a $500 deductible for warranty which will cover all of it. What is up with Infiniti's Stability Control ??? I had it on the whole time INTENTIONALLY so this would not have happened, like in my old 06 Acura RL where it intervened and saved me in a similar situation. In this video you can see a Chrysler 300 goes around a wet corner in the same way I did(though mine was just a 90 degree left turn), and the stability control intervened and prevented the car from crashing. WHY DIDNT MINE DO THIS ?!?! I also was able to kick the tail out and then it swung around the other way almost spinning out before Stability Control Kicked in earlier that day, if its this bad in the wet how in the HELL can it be any good in the snow ?? I love my Infiniti, dont get me wrong, but this is ridiculous....

YouTube - How electronic stability control (ESC) works

Oh and I beat a G37 Coupe, the G35 sedan is faster. Haha, weighing 300-400 lbs more(I weigh about 3500, about 100-150 less than the G37 sedan) needs more than just 21 hp to make up for I guess ?? Does the G37 have the Dual Ram Air Intake like in mine ?? (Adds 3 hp at 60 mph for a total output of 309 hp) I beat a G37 coupe at the drag strip, we were both stock, I did a 13.8 @ 103 mph, he did a 14.0 @ 100 mph. I have the 6-speed and clocked a 0-60 in 4.9.

Stability control does nothing to make your tires grip, they are what they are.

When they lose grip(in the front for example) the stability control should cut in, just like in that video when the Chrysler 300s front tires lost grip and it understeered w/o stability control on, when it was turned on it did not understeer on the wet skidpad, which is how stability control SHOULD and usually does operate. It did in my old awd Acura RL on snow/ice, when it snowed and I turned the stability control on it cut in and saved me from oversteering/understeering but did not when turned off(obviously), but the Infiniti acted like it was turned off in that understeering situation in just the WET, not even bad conditions. I might as well not even have Stability Control if it just about never intervenes as it should, not be overly sensitive like Lexus ones but act normal.

But you are talking about ice and slush. Don't be like the people that think cruise control drives their car and can take a nap. Know what the features are. Stability control doesn't magically make your tires grip when there is nothing to stick to.

Great vid - note the wheels on most of the cars were locked. Slamming on the brakes is the worst thing you can do. Its better to steer away and slam on the accellerator.

VDC monitors tire spin with respect to all the tires. In the OPs case, if he were driving through the corner normally, VDC would not have sensed anything since wheels were all rolling. It does not compare steering angle to GPS trajectory... just weheel slippage.
