Manufacturer Vehicle

Hey all...been checking out this forum for a bit while shopping around for a G. Tons of great input--thanks, you all have been a big help!

Anyway, I found a G that I'm interested in (2010 6MT, Nav, Spoiler, Graphite Shadow), but the CARFAX report stated that it was recently "Sold at auction in Tennessee Listed as a manufacturer vehicle."

Is anyone familiar with this terminology as it relates to Nissan/Infiniti? A little poking around the Internet suggests a wide variety of possibilities, but you all seem to have a good depth of Nissan/Infiniti knowledge so I figured I'd ask.

The G as nearly 8K miles on it.

Thanks in advance!

Maybe a lease return that was resold?

EDIT: Just found this on CarFax's website

Manufacturer Vehicle —
Manufacturer vehicles are vehicles put up for sale by the manufacturer. These vehicles are typically only available to dealers at special auctions. These vehicles have generally been registered as lease or rental vehicles.

Doubt it was a rental, miles are too low.

Doubt they would only put 8k miles on a test car.

It was probably a vehicle used for press and media events.

I think it may have been one of the vehicles used in test drives. Just a thought.
