If you're going to drive the G regardless of weather get the winter treads.

Got caught in a dusting, 1 -2 inches, last winter in my 6MT with summer tires. Was very lucky to make it home. I usually drive my 4X4 when there's a hint of winter weather and will be very conservative this winter.

Even if there isn't snow on the ground you don't want to be on summer tires in the snow. I made that mistake and took my 6MT out when it was 20~ but bone dry and it was like driving on hockey pucks. The rubber is rock solid and has crap grip. If even a dusting hits the ground and you are out on the roads park it and call a friend, its not worth it. (I'm from Ohio so I'm not talking about Virginia snow). Everyone thinks they are a 'good snow driver' until you try to brake nice and easy coming to a stop sign and end up sliding into the middle of a 4 way intersection realizing you dodged a bullet.
