Need Tint Recommendation: Vibrant Red Exterior, Wheat Interior

Hey all, new to the forum and Infiniti, but looked pretty extensively to make sure this wasn't a repeat... If it is, feel free to redirect me.

Looking for advice on tint darkness, specific to my car’s interior and exterior colors. Wheat interior, and Vibrant Red Exterior. Don’t want to sacrifice classy look of car and look ghetto, but know that light interior will make tint seem lighter.

Wife has White/Pearl QX56 with Wheat interior and matched rear windows with 20% on the front (driver and pass) and it looks great, but am worried it will be too dark on Vibrant Red.

Also looking for light mods. Car is a lease - nearly anything I do would need to be undone - so I don't want to go crazy. Have K&N air filters on order.

Recommendations and pics would be a huge help. Thanks!!!

Depending on where you live the laws limit your tint percentage. If you look in my gallery, I had hers tinted with 3M at 23%. I wanted to go with the 18% but the installer did not like the film as much.

I'd start by deciding whether or not you want to be legal and if so what you're state requires. State Window Tinting Laws

I have the exact same combo, VR exterior and wheat interior. Take a look at my very first thread https://www.myg37.com/forums/newbie-...-everyone.html. If you scroll down to post #12 you'll see my before and after pictures of getting tints. Take note of how much sunlight are in the pictures, it kind of reflects on how the tints will look in different sunlight. Go to my other thread https://www.myg37.com/forums/picture...my-vr-g37.html if you want to see more pictures.

Oh, and I have 22% all around and 28% on the back. With the wheat interior, the tint definitely does not look as dark as cars with black interiors.

I am not terribly concerned about being legal, most concerned about losing the clean look for ghetto. Thanks for the imput - any other insight is great! Please keep it coming. Scheduled for next weds (7/14) and need to decide by then.

Thanks for the quick response. Your car is looking great emyrl! I wish I could do more, but have to give it back in a few years and don't want to spend the money to do, then undo. How does the contrast between the tint and frame around the rear windows (little backseat, not big rear window) look in person?

I would go as dark as you are comfortable with (legal wise) with the lighter interior. I have a black interior and dark exterior and could stay legal with 45% carbon but still look pretty dark because the interior is dark. I would not go much darker than 25-30% myself as it can get hard to see at night. Others will say no but common sense says if you put a dark film on your clear window it will be harder to out of with low ambient light outside.

I have an IP coupe and I got 20% all around. I feel its perfect in everyway. Daytime/nighttime looks, visibility, etc.. Also make sure you take it to a reputable tint shop. You get what you pay for with tints.

PS
I really like your color combo. Im not a fan of the wheat leather but it seems to work very well with a VR

There's a little bit of contrast, but in person you're really not going to notice it.
I think your car will look good as long as the tints are the same all around.

That's a nice color combo. Being that your interior is light, I'd go as dark as you can legally. My car is black on black, so a 30% tint may look awesome on my car, and wouldn't look as good on yours because of the interior color, so you'd have to go darker.

So for you, the darker you can get it, the better.

Thanks gang. I think I am going with 20% all around. I don't want to be too dark, but think 20 will be dark enough, even with the light interior. I will take pics next week and post. Thanks for the warm welcome to all!

I have 20% all around with black on black and I think it looks just right, dark but not so dark you can't see in/out. I think you will be happy with that on a light interior.
