Allow me to introduce myself...

... just picked up a loaded 08' G37 S, black on black, 6-MT with 12 K miles. I F-ing love this car! I'm coming from a 2005 Prius so I'm a little overwhelmed by this car at the moment. Almost had more than a few accidents on the way home. I have a few questions for the G37 vets:
1. Is there any way to make navigating through the Ipod faster or more efficient?

2. Can maps for the navigation be updated or is it locked into the 07-08 map versions?

3. Do you guys suggest the extended warranty? My car has 23 months of the factory bumper to bumper warranty and only 12 K miles. It's certified pre-owned, but they were strongly suggesting an extended warranty. Just wondering what you guys think and where/what to look at.

I have a ton more questions but I start with these. At the moment I'm particularly annoyed by how long it takes to get to artists or songs. I'm heading out for a drive!

Congrats on the upgrade.

1. Yes, to some extent. Well organized playlists seems to be the best solution.

I would consider an extended warranty for the G a waste of money. Now if you were asking about a BMW then an extended warranty would be a must.
You can search all the G forums for problem areas where an extended warranty might come in handy, but I doubt if you will find anything that justifies the cost of one.

While I'm not a fan of buying extended warranties for many purchases, I disagree with this comment. This car has many complex systems and multiple computer modules making any system problem a costly one. I figure an extended warranty will pay for itself with 1-2 major covered problems. While it is insurance you can easily end up paying big bucks is something major fails after the 4 year basic warranty expires.

LOL. I was thinking,..."my name is Hov...H to the O.V...."

OP, congrats on the new ride. That is quite a change. What, you not a tree hugger any longer j/k.

To answer your questions
I don't have a Nav, so no answer for 1 and 2.

3. Do you guys suggest the extended warranty? No, that is a waste of money, especially for the low mileage you have. My car has 23 months of the factory bumper to bumper warranty and only 12 K miles That's good enough. It's certified pre-owned, but they were strongly suggesting an extended warranty Because they make $$ off of it. Almost pure profit in most cases. Just wondering what you guys think and where/what to look at.

Looks like to have the nav/tech options. If you get a good deal on the extended warranty, buy it. Make sure all the electronic stuff are included.
I wouldn't buy it if I have the base model. But on this car, if the nav, AFS, ICC/CC, Pre-Crash Seatbelt or 4WAS don't work, that's a shtload of money to get it fixed right there. Those are stuff that only the dealer can fix.

Ha... Yeah I thought about the Hova song, but the humpty dance never crossed my mind... You went deep on that one focker...

Thanks for the input guys. Probably gonna hold off on the warranty and see if some money falls in my lap that I can throw at it... next is to wipe the ipod and get that situation under control. Man I love this car. I still haven't figured the clutch out all that well, but I love everything about the car in general. I paid 36 K for it for everything out the door including the POC. I don't really think this is a great deal, but it was exactly what I was looking for and it was the MT, which is pretty hard to find. They also put new rims and tires on it, which I was happy with. Overall I think it was a good deal, but not a world beating deal. What do you guys think? Either way I love the **** out of this car! I flew down with a lady friend and bought the car and stayed at her house down in LA. She mentioned being jealous of the car, because once I had the car all I wanted to do was drive it and I stopped paying attention to her. Saw some other people posting about that issue and thought it was hilarious.

I have another question:

My neighbor has this terrible watering system that I noticed splashing the front of my car. Will this damage the paint over time?
