Glad it worked out. I got my HUD cover replaced without any issues and mine wasn't quite that bad.

The question is... will the new one hold up over time

If there is not enough wear to not warrant a replacement they will just resurface it. That is what they did for me and it is working fine so far, but they also fixed a lot of issues the other dealer would not even look at, or things they improperly remedied. My last cruise control issue, the 5th one, was a direct result of the previous dealer not fixing it right and over tightening the part they replaced to remedy the initial problem (4 attempted fixes and they could not get it right).
