Where to Start - Buying Parts

My deployment is almost over in about another 60 days, and my pockets are burning. I won't say money is no object, but let's just say I have a little $ to throw at the G.

I want performance, but with the car still well within the warranty period, I'm not sure I want to go the F/I route. So, honestly, if it were your $, where would you start other than the basics?

Exhaust
Intake
Headers

Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks

deployment $$ is well spent on the G

I'd go HFC, cat-back exhaust, and Stillen Gen3 intake (or Injen if that suits you better)

OR

FI Long Tube Headers, cat-back exhaust, and Stillen Gen3 Intake (" ")

also I'd look at wheels if you haven't changed the OEM's out

Tell that to my wife...

I love the OEM wheels tho, they look nice and classy. I'm thinking about maintaining the stock look for the most part. Goin' for a sleeper look.

I def want to get it lowered a bit. I probably shouldn't be looking at these GTM vids on youtube though. Gets me thinking about FI. My question is how reliable will it be in the long run...

Are you 100% stock right now? If so scratch my previous post...

1) drop (I like Eibachs but you can do coilovers if you're willing to spend more)
2) hotchkis sways (makes the suspension incredibly more responsive/tight)
3) GT-Spec Tower Strut Bar
4) then start on my first list

The Stillen SC seems pretty reliable and they are standing behind it. The GTM TT I don't know enough about to really make a call on that. I would just read through both SC and TT threads and make a decision

How much $$ are we talking here.. if you want performance then take it from me, DO NOT waste your money on lame bolt-ons. If I were to do it all over again, I'd save up for a SC or a TT kit, and get just a catback for the nice exhaust note.

I'm thinking about going F/I, and I could probably spend up to $7k or so.

What do you guys recommend for exhaust? I'm leaning towards the Stillen, it sounds pretty nice from what I heard. I'll probably go with them for the S/C as well.

Get the Stillen SC, a mild drop (Eibach), and spacers for your stock wheels. Keep the sleeper look that you want.

I win!

If it's the sleeper look you're going for and want performance I would definitely look into the GTM Supercharger as the look is super clean and almost stock looking, but when you get on it, I'm sure there is no mistaking what's under the hood

P.S Check out the picks of the GTM kit as well as the installed pics and you'll see what I'm talking about. When the install is complete, it basically looks like you have Stillen gen 3 intakes installed instead of a SC. Everything is pretty much out of view and clean looking. https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-...s-release.html

Here is the Stillen Kit: https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-...ouncement.html
A beautiful kit, just more crazy looking and busy under the hood, but more of a show car look. Very nice kit as well.

Also, anyone considering the SC FI route should definitely not miss the thread below as it is basically authored by both Stillen and GTM directly and compares both kits very well...https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-...questions.html

Overall both are high quality and powerful, just different things to consider... Best of luck in your choice and thank you for your service to our country!

I do it because I love this great place we call America

Looks like I'll probably start with the exhaust and springs first. I think I want to see a few guinea pigs test this S/C kit before I become an early adopter. My car still has 1800 miles on it. I think I may want to at least get closer to the point where I'm no longer in the warrany period.

Who has gotten the best gains from which exhaust system?

Decisions Decisions...

Fast Intentions is your #1 source for the best exhaust out for the 370z/G37 period. Want an ampd up VQ ? Fast intentions FTW !!! Zero rasp , just deep, smooth , throaty sounding tone that amplifies the stock tone!

How about a...

For real though, it all depends on how much you want to spend. As far as forced induction is concerned, a TT kit will yield the most gains and also cost you roughly 12-18K after all is said and done if you want it done right. A SC kit will run you between 7-10K, but might not yield numbers as high as the TT kit (correct me if I'm wrong fellas). If you're considering either one of those then I would definitely give GTM a call since they have the best options for the G right now. If you're only looking for an intake then (IMHO) Stillen Gen 3 all the way. As far as bolt on parts for an N/A motor are concerned (FI aside), you can't simply add all the individual numbers for each part up to estimate your total HP gain. Bolt-ons will net you only a little power and you would've spent nearly the cost of a new SC kit from GTM. If you want serious power for this VQ motor then either TT or SC are an absolute MUST!

If not going FI.....

HFC, catback, CAI (wht not) and a TUNE.

KW3 coils + sway bars + light weight wheel + better tires.
