Frameless doors

Ok, so I feel a little like a dumbass. I just realized the coupe has frameless doors.. I have to say I haven't paid too much attention to the coupe since the AWD wasn't available when I leased. Now I am looking at a lot more coupe pics so that might be why I just noticed.

When I had my Subie Legacy it had frameless doors. Subaru was frameless for years and just recently went to framed doors. They said it was to address concerns with road noise from a frameless door. I don't remember the legacy being very noisy but it wasn't nearly as quiet as my G35 sedan.

Does anyone have any thoughts on road noise on the coupe?

I think there is very minimal road noise, but my most recent car before the G was a Chevy Blazer so I don't have much to live up for a quiet interior

That being said I still think the coupe is really quiet for a sports coupe

My G coupe has wind noise. I've reset the window a few times but its still has a little wind noise. I got a 4 dr loaner with a framed door and it had absolutely no noise. I think all frameless doors will have a little wind noise because the window has an extra mechanism to push the window up in the frame when closed. I'm thinking sometimes this may not go all the way.

I've always preferred a framed door myself but some sacrifices had to be made for the sake of style on the coupe. It definitely looks better with frameless windows at the expense of some wind noise....

I think in most cases (guys with mods), we can't argue about noise when we decide to lower the car, put wheels on with low profile tires, exhaust, intake etc etc.......

(Those with sounds systems can't hear any of the noises anyways!)

I dont mind any of that! I'm all for looks and rollin' in a clean a$$ ride!

Just my 2 cents!

^^agree ..you think wind noise is bad, wait until you put 30 series tires on some 20's lowered, tires howl when going slow and feel every bump on the road

The Infiniti is exceptionally quieter than my Subaru's (I've had a couple). I also had a BMW after my Subaru's (which also frameless) and it was also much quieter than the Subaru.

BMW and Infiniti's secret is the windows auto roll down about 1cm when you open the doors. When you close them, they auto roll up again. When they roll up, the windows tuck in under the frame. This seals it up quite nicely.

Yep, the auto roll up/down helps and I think the coupe is very quiet. I had an 08 G35 sedan before I got my coupe and I think they both are very quiet when it comes to road noise.

I drove some friends to an event this last weekend. The girls were running behind and in the car one was saying I needed to hurry. My gf said "geez, he's already going 80!" The other girl didn't believe her at first. I notice all too often I'm going like 10 mph faster than I think I am when I look down at the speedo. I think its a combo of so little road noise and very smooth ride. My sedan runs so quiet, it's a nice step up from my '01 Nissan Sentra. Can't speak for the coupe/frameless but I image Infiniti did a good job with the noise reduction as well.

How can it look better? When the door is closed, no one can tell. So for the couple seconds you have the door open you think it looks better??????????
