2010 Backlighting change

Does anyone know if would be possible to convert the white needles and center display back to red like in the previous years? The white is just so bland and/or boring especially for the sport model. Are there any led mods anyone knows of? Thanks.

I'm sure it's possible but it won't be easy. You have to take the whole dash to pieces just to get to the "Combination Meter" as they call it, and even that is a sealed unit (I think), so you'd have to pry that apart to get to the board with the backlight LEDs on it, then you'll need a decent amount of soldering skill to get the white SMT LEDs off and replace them with the colour of your choice. I *think* I saw someone's description of doing similar on a forum somewhere, but I'll be buggered if I can find it now.

If you do it, please post pics

all i have to say is good luck.....if you attempt to change it urself, chances are, u'll screw up the board or snap a needle...

ur better off buying the previous gen gauges and swapping gauge clusters (given the fact that it fits)

+1 attempting the change isnt worth the risk, in fact if it's a direct compatible fit I bet you can EASILY find an 08-09 guy that will swap you with his cluster, as many would see the newer style as an upgrade. Shoot you could probably even have him chip in on the install if you have the dealership do it, lol, since he'd be getting a new cluster and you'd be getting an older one with some wear/age.

2008-2009

2010

I think the old gauge looks more "traditional sport" (reminds me of BMW a little) and the new one looks more modern kind of like newer Lexus IS's. It's a subtle difference though, don't think it merits to throw down hundreds on reverting or upgrading.
Overall I'm pretty happy with the 08.

I love my new 10's gauge cluster. It looks classier than my old 08's....

So losing the Red looks classier? NOT

I actually think the 08/09 set was perfect... The Red needle being really
the only difference, but it served purpose... The polished ring on the dial
reflected the exact point of the needle, making it a very very quick visual
when driving. The white needle simply doesn't stand out as clearly.

It was probably cheaper to not color the needle... It is a recession ya know.
