Center Console Issues
I'm taking my car in for its 30K service tomorrow, and I'll tell them about it and hopefully they'll fix it. I'll keep y'all updated. It really is annoying, but it's the only problem I have with the car. Other than the fact that it recently got KEYED.
Glad I came upon this..wish someone who knew could tell me when I was experiencing the same problem with the same car...I got really irritated and took it to the dealership..they first refused and said it was the body flexing, but I knew there was something with the center console...I read this on an earlier thread..Take it to the dealership and tell them to tighten the four screws holding the center console together..and if that isn't correct which I wasn't sure that's what it was...I just told them to get rid of that noise and said I would take a technician along If it came back..they called me the next day to pick up my car and she claimed that they tighten up some screws and If I had more problems they would replace the whole thing! Hope that helps!
With the help of InfiniDrew, I was able to correct this issue! While the noise we are speaking of is most easily replicated by pressing on the console around the cup holder area, it is actually the washi trim around the shifter and ashtray that are causing this problem. Unfortunately, it took me the pain of having to take apart the whole center console to discover this problem.
However, if you take a small flat head screwdriver and use it to pry off the washi trim near the shifter and ashtray, it will easily pop off. FYI, there are three clips in the "front" that attach this piece to the radio/CD/nav console area, and two that attach it to the black plastic trim of the center console. Once each "clip" is undone, the washi trim can be removed. I lubricated the edges of the trim, as well as the black plastic trim in which it sits, with WD-40. I applied about 3 coats, which was probably overkill, but I'm sick of this problem.
Once you snap the washi trim back into place, wipe off the excess WD-40 and you'll most hopefully be squeak-free!

I had something like that noise in my 2009 G37x coupe. It was the right side of the seat bolster rubbing against the center console. I slipped a thin piece of cardboard between the two, trimmed it so you couldn't see it and so far no more squeaks. Agree its not acceptable for this pricey car.
