Battery charging question
Battery charging question
Hi,
Like most, I am having battery issues - car doesn't start well after it has been left for a couple days. I went to the dealer and of course they said everything is fine and wanted to charge me 50$ to give my battery a full charge.
I already have a battery charger, so I told them to forget it. I always used my charger on my previous cars by connecting the positive to the battery and the negative to the car frame, which seems to be the recommended way in the manual. When I do this, my charger does not react and basically shows a full battery. I only get a reaction (charger show battery at about 70% charged) when I connect both positive and negative clamps to the battery.
Is there any risk to do this? Or am I not connecting to the frame properly?
Thanks,
Steve

I really got to chime in here. My car sits for 5 weeks in -20 weather and starts for me everytime i get home. And no I dont plug in the block heater either. It is in the garage but it is not heated.
